Default PCM2.1 Upgrade / Update

Hello, I have a 2005 Cayenne S with PCM2.1

The PCM had SW Version 1.0 ( Standard Production ) at first. I used 000.043.205.47.003 and was able to successfully upgrade from SW Version 1.0 ( PCM software version 04035AD1/0304, Standard Production ) to SW Version 2.1 ( PCM software version 04202MD1/1805, upgrade version Model Level A ).

Then, I used 000.043.205.47.002 and successfully upgraded from SW Version 2.1 ( PCM software version 04202MD1/1805, upgrade version Model Level A ) to SW Version 3.1 ( PCM software version 05024BD1/1705, upgrade version Model Level B ). I also used 000.044.901.40 ( which is part of the latest and greatest 955.044.903.61 and I am using North America 2009 maps ).

Here's the question: how do I upgrade to Model Level C, Model Level C1? ( which seem to be the highest upgrade possible for PCM2.1 ) I thought that 955.044.903.61 would bring me up to the latest PCM software version and up to the latest maps... I do have the latest maps, but my PCM apparently was not updated all the way through ( it remains in SW Version 3.1, Model Level B )...

I'd be grateful for any assistance folks on here may be able to provide. Thanks in advance.

You need the navigation DVD drive update CD for the 2009 maps.

I just purchased the latest 3 disc upgrade pack from Porsche and mine is right where yours is too. I already had the second Level A software 04202 and upgraded to Level B 05204. The disc set had the PCM upgrade disc, Nav drive upgrade disc, and the newer 2009/2010 maps. I did the PCM & the Nav drive updates with both of the part # discs you listed above so their must be some further trick? I was wondering about trying to re-install the PCM disc to see if it would now take it up another level?

I tried re-inserting my upgrade disc and I get "data files on disc, no update required". So updating past Level B must take a special disc that is not included in the latest update set. Mine are brand new from Porsche, wasn't even in stock, had to come out of the National warehouse.

Well I couldn't live without the phone button on the PCM 2.1 in my '05 Cayenne TT. I bought a PCM2.1 from a '08 Cayenne build date 17/09 part number 7L5.035.192C. I had a Bose, CD changer, off road, and compass already so I wasn't sure what was going to work. I purschased my unit off Ebaymotors from Euro-customs. The only thing their ads said was that you needed a PCM meant for Bose if your car had Bose. It came Fedex today and I installed it right away. It worked right off the bat. I had just updated my old unit from Level A to Level B with the latest 2009/10 Nav discs & software and the software was updated to PCM 3.1, the new unit has software 4.1, I couldn't find a way to update my old software to this level, it wasn't on the new Nav/software set. As I mentioned most everything seems to work, compass works, Ipod works(have dealer installed kit), Off road is still there. The only one I'm not sure about is the CD changer yet. Overall I'm very pleased as I want to install the Mobridge and have a OEM type of Bluetooth, and now I can sell my good old PCM for probably almost as much as I paid for this unit.

I did the exact same thing about 2 years agon on my 2005 CTT. PCM 2.1 with no phone button, upgraded to pcm 2.1 with phone bottons. As a bonus I got the offroad and compass in the dash. Both where not on the old PCM. I got my new PCM from the same place you did on ebay ... sold my old one for $100 less on ebay. I have mobridge bluetooth and Ipod ... all works great.

cranemj, where are you located? I have the discs but lent them out and expect them back in the next week so I won't be able to get them to you until after then. Really need to know your software version first. Look at the first post above, you get to the software versions by pressing the Main & Trip button's simultaneously.
