That looks like the aluminum set to me... the cross-brace across the three smaller pipes is toward the back of the engine - nearest the firewall. And the black plastic piece in the lower right of your pic is where it would meet the aluminum set.

So... I'd say it's safe to say your top three smaller pipes are aluminum.

Does this also apply to the V6?

I think I have the plastic pipe based on the picture below. Can anyone confirm this for me? Thanks.

Did Porsche change to AL pipes as OEM at some point? I'm concerned about this but honestly folks, I can't make out squat in this thread about what may be plastic or AL.

Wait a minute... upon further review - I think I might have the aluminum pipe. Any experts out there than can confirm this for me? I hope my picture is clear enough. Thanks in advance.

Can't really tell from that photo. I think several photos with the mirror at slightly different angles might tell us more, or simply sticking your cell-phone camera in the area and taking a bunch of pics will probably tell more.

No. Never. Absolutely not. It's a rumor people hang onto in the hope they din't need to replace their pipes.. forgeddaboutit.. the only aluminum pipes on the V8's are on cars that have received the retrofit kit.

Well it would seem to me that if photographing them is such a big deal, then to replace them must be a major undertaking. Is there sticky around here showing the procedure?
