AFAIK, t here are no analog inputs on the back of either headunit (CDR or PCM).
When you say 'back of nav' exactly what are you referring to? Did you remove the headunit from the dashboard?
I'm guessing there is an FM modulator tucked in behind the headunit...it should be simple enough to "find" it...insert the jack in your console into an iPod (or any audio source), play audio and then scan thru the FM frequencies (manually or seek) until you hear the music.

MYSTERY PLUG RESOLVED!
IPOD IPHONE Resoved!!! Found a toggle switch by my leg (pic below) when I flip the switch not only does my IPOD/IPHONE work VIA my NAV head unit and steering wheel controls, so does the phone! All using that 3.5 plug pictured above, despite what some of you thought...p.s. when I said NAV I was referring to navigation which came with my '04 CS.

Yes, but that is not an OEM design/option.
There must be an aftermarket adapter hiding back there somewhere, knowing the brand/type will be useful should it fail and you can't communicate with it to get S/N or P/N information, let alone know who to call.

The adapter is probably hiding tucked in the passenger firewall. There is nowhere else even a small one fits.
Thing I find odd is the phone only works when plugged in? So it's not BT? Maybe I am reading this wrong. There should be a little aftermarket microphone hiding somewhere obvious too.
MyPepper - What every one is telling you is that even Porsche OEM did not offer this and there is no way to just link in an iPod to the headunit. This reminds me of the MoBridge unit with the toggle on/off switch and I am guessing someone rigged a 3.5 adapter instead of the std iPod one (prob bc they didn't have an iPod).
Any how do you know the white/red RCA plugs go to back of Nav? Take a picture and show us.

Where else would these rca's be headed if not to the back of the nav? There's no more slack and they run straight up and back behind the unit...

And your picture shows them where the cig lighter usually is. Let me tell you after spending much time both in that location (I have SAT there) and behind the PCM, I highly doubt that's where they're running to. That particular location (of your pic) is easy to run them behind the glovebox and to the firewall, which is where I predict we will all find the answer.
