No more driving the kids (3 & 5) around in the back of the 964. sold the 993, picked up a 996t for summer fun and now I'm thinking cayenne! Do I have to search or can someone tell me the best was to go.. base, S, turbo?? How do maitenance costs compare to 911's. Do I need to look for cpo vehicles?? Thanks in advance Matt.

A buddy just picked up an '04 Turbo with 50k miles on it for $28.5 here in Dallas. At 90k, I would stay away from the car you posted
If Turbo is not your thing, then get an '05 or '06 V-8 with low miles and pay in the high 20s or very low 30s.....
To answer your questions (as much as I can).
Try to stay with '05 and later trucks. Try to get CPO out to 100k miles and make sure all the TSB stuff has been done like coils (they crack) and coolant pipes (plastic units that run under the intake). The coolant pipes crack and dump coolant onto the engine and into the starter. Yes, the starter. Why? Because it sits on top of the engine and under the coolant pipes.

Scott

Are we not here to help each other out?? If someone was to ask the differences between a 964 and 993 and some advise on owning one of those I would chime in to help. Sometimes the search is a pain in the ***, and you just want the skinny. I've never considered a cayenne before and know little about the line. I need to get the kids into something a little safer and more practical.
Scott, thanks for the info that's what I was looking for.

I had a 996TT and also drove a few 997TT... the space behind the driver seat is not enough for teenagers... My daughter with 11 years old, 5' was already starting to complaint when we took out the 996TT...
With children 3 & 5, you still have a few years before the outgrow the rear seats on a 911 Turbo. But if you plan to keep the car longer and do not need a truck (Cayenne) then why not look at a Panamera??
If it is a budget issue, do what I did... I went with a BMW X5 Diesel with all the goodies... 4 years of service included and all for less that 60K...
Just my .02
