Default Air Suspension Question

If you have air suspension on your Cayenne, does the compressor run every time you first start the car in the morning?

Mine does, and I'm trying to determine if this is normal; or if I have a slow leak that causes pressure loss when it's parked over night.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

Nope... Mine only runs when raising, lowering or self-leveling.

Could it be the fuel pumps ? they are pretty noisy when you open the door

If you put the cat bypasses on, you do not hear much at startup except exhaust rumble.

It's the air suspension compressor, for sure.

I'm surprised you are not getting an air suspension fault.

Just got the message "PSM FAILURE" in the multifunction display for the first time tonight. Is this the fault you mean?

Interesting. Another poster over on Renntech.org says that PSM is not related to the air suspension, but PASM is. My dealer's tech also says that there are two different control modules for PSM and the air suspension.

However, at the same time that I got the PSM FAILURE message, the air suspension compressor stopped working, so there either must be some interaction between the two or it's just a big coincidence.

Ah, sorry... I misread PASM for your typed PSM.

I'm not sure how the two are related but, at any rate, the PSM failure will need to be checked out.

Not sure how your truck is set-up.
I am assuming you have the air-suspension?
It should read something like "air suspension failure". But usually comes and goes.

Either way what's happening to you is not normal. Take it in and get it checked out under the warranty.

Air suspension and PDCC. The "PSM FAILURE" error message and teltale in the cluster are gone after two starts today. Air suspension is making all kinds of funny noises and the compressor is running way more than it should. All this with less than 1,000 miles on the clock.

Appointment for service (again!) next Monday. I wonder if they'll keep it for a week again this time.

Is there another dealership you can go to in your area? A competent tech can make the world of difference on these cars. I think Porsche in general and Cayenne specifically requires a know how tech. While PhD not required, but unlike other European cars like Audi/BMW/MB where they pretty much have the same engines all across their lines. The Cayenne does have an unique engine to no other cars (except the Panamera which is based on the Cayenne anyway) and all sorts of wonderful electronics to go with it.
