Whatever it is, most of it is sitting on my garage floor now! No idiot light has yelled at me, so its likely REALLY important. Noticed it while changing front pads and rotors.

Sweet

Ha, I wish. Unfortunately it is not. I know the difference between H2O and something else. I have two air conditioning outputs (front & rear), so I guess I have three leaks...

What is the color of the transmission fluid? I know it is a sealed unit, so I have no idea. Also, is the air suspension, really just air? Is there any hydraulic fluid? The steering fluid appears to be green. What color is brake fluid in the car? Is it blue? Would it be clear. At first I thought I cracked one of the solid brake lines, while changing the rotors, but its just too far back. Also, the leak is just about where the shifter is, but a little off to the side towards the drivers side.

How about the hose for rear wiper fluid? I *think* it runs up the passenger A-pillar.

What does is smell like?

It's muffler bearing oil that's leaking. 

Great!

I thought coolant was green (or orange) in these cars. Also, there wasn't any white residue that I often associate with coolant. Either way, at the same time, the air bag light came on, so its going to the dealer.

What's the fluid feel like when you put your finger in it? Does it evaporate?

Sweet
This is my guess. If the fluid is clear and is only behind the drivers side front wheel, then I am 99% shure that it is brake fluid. You said you just did front pads right? When you compressed the pistons back into the caliper that fluid traveled back to the master cylinder reservoir and probably overflowed, happens from time to time. The brake fluid master cylinder is located in the left front cowl, the fluid runs down and leaks through the water drain. Remove the little cover and suck out some fluid, and set the level, rinse out the area with water too, brake fluid is nasty crap!

Brake fluid = Clear to brownish color, very slippery to the touch
Coolant = Orange/Green , taste it, very sweet, its coolant!
Trans. fluid = Bright red, very distinct smell
Washer fluid = Blue most of the time, very distinct smell
oil = oil
pentosin P/S fluid = green to dark green, very distinct smell
A/C drain = water, passenger side right below glove box area.
Lower control arm bushing fluid = No joke, they are hydraulic bushings, have seen a couple leak, very thin black fluid.
T-case oil = I think its blue, not shure, they dont leak and service interval is 160k or something
Front and Rear diff = Gear oil, brown, very stinky stuff, I hate gear oil!

Now you've ruined it.

I was looking forward to the sight of the owner, sitting in the waiting room, face planted down into both hands, rocking back and forth, legs twitching up and down, just waiting for the service mananger to come in with the autopsy report....it's what I live for.

Thank you very much for this info.

Lower control arm bushing fluid, I would have never guessed, next you're going to tell us they have muffler bearings? JK
