Default Radar Detector

I am planning on getting a radar detector soon and was interested in something built in like the Escort SRX but have been told that the front laser jammers/radar detectors would not it in the stock grill. Is this true? What radar detector do you have on your Pepper?

o ya this is for a 2005 turbo

In my 05 truck, I use a Valentine. Like the arrows pointing where the threats are!

That's just painted plastic there...nothing developed by NASA last time I checked.

I have a Beltronics Pro Series RX65. It is wonderful. I seriously considered the Valentine also, and I think it is a good choice too. The price was very close, the thing that helped me choose the Bel was that it is a newer design, and I read many good reviews on it. The Valentine does have the arrows, and the bogey counter. Nice features, but in reality, I'm slowing down if it beeps, regardless of which way the arrow is pointing. I think you would be happy with either one.

I wired my Bel to a switched circuit at the fuse box, and it is mounted in the center of the windshield, just below the rearview mirror.

I did the same as Dennis with my Passport 9500i. Turns on when the car is turned on. Detection is fantastic!! The passport has GPS so I can set false alarms on the way to work ... and I have a quiet trip. Nice feature. very happy with the unit.

I was thinking something a little less obvious like the Escort 9500ci, my parents have the older model Escort and love it so I will probably stick with Escort.

I have that combo...absolutely awesome..but expensive. Get warranty as I it had to be replaced about 8 months later. Been flawless ever since. The jammer is mounted behind the front grilles and above the trailer hitch. Mute button next to ashtray. Installed at Car Toys for around $1600 if memory serves.

I've been using Valentine detectors for about 15 years, they work very good. I haven't gotten a ticket since I bought my first one early in the 90's. I've upgraded probably 3-4 times.

I have both the V-1 and Escort system. The V-1 seems to detect earlier due to location in the vehicle but it has given me many false alerts. Prefer the Escort due to laser diffusing capabilities. V-1 has the bogey count and arrows.

I have had a V1 in all of my cars since 1999. Paid for itself time and time again. I actually have a K40 in my CTT. The V1 has better range than the K40, but the K40 seems to false less often. Can not go wrong with a V1. Valentine 1 even has a scratch and dent offering. Basicially it is a return from someone that did not want it. It is about 20% less than MSRP and comes with the latest V1 software and the full warranty.

I think I will go to a different Car Toys and have them install the Escort SRX the closest one said they didn't think they could do it.

Check with Escort's website for list of installers and then find out which of the techs does the high end vehicles. I wouldn't let just any tech touch your car.
