If you're gonna get one, get a Valentine. I've got one and it's great, but if the opposition
is sharp and not just sitting there spraying signal, the instant-on radars and lasers will
give any detector a hard time (as in you only get a warning from your detector 'cause you've been illuminated, not that there's a unit down the road that you're still out of range from).

The last couple trips we've left the detector home and pretty much stuck to the posted limits, and it's a bit more relaxing because you don't have to be on alert constantly to the detector.

If money is no object, the K40 is the way to go. I like the built in style which makes it stealthy and thus if you are pulled over it increases your chances of talking your way out of a ticket.

Doesn't a K40 require a front license plate for mounting?

I've had Escorts, Passports and I'm now on my 2nd V1. I like the ideal of the bogey counter and the radar locator. Also Valentine offers a trade in on earlier units when new technology is develop, which I feel is beneficial.

Mike Valentine was a partner with Cincinnati Microwave who develop the original Escort. You can't go wrong with a V1

I have the K40 in one of my cars, and compared to V1. V1 provides a bit further alerts.

As very long time advocate of V1 products for over 20 years, I am getting concered with the V1... it has been many years since they had any technology upgrade. Would not be surprised (other than patented arrows and bogies), that Bell and Passport finally caught up / surpassed V1 technology.

The V1 seems like a very good detector but I really want a built in/hidden detector and have heard that the escort is better than the K40 still have not gotten it put in but hopefully will do so soon.
