Default New gremlin - door locks - Thoughts?

Today I go back to my car from lunch and attempt to unlock the doors with the key fob...... No response from the car.

I unlock the car manually and leave. The car automatically locks when I drive off.

I get to my destination and notice the car does not automatically unlock. I exit and attempt to lock normally with the remote.... No joy.

I lock with the key manually and go about my business.

Anybody else experience this?

Could it be a simple "reset" issue or is the central locking system FUBAR'd?

I don't know if this is your issue, but I can tell you that my keyless entry started behaving in strange ways right before my main battery died (not the key fob battery). Have you ever had your battery replaced? If not, you might be getting close...

Thanks Dennis. The damn thing is working fine today.

I'll keep it monitored.

Hi Brad,
Glad to see you back posting. I hope all is well. Yes, it is under warranty but the behavior corrected itself today. Your response is somewhat cryptic. Is there something big in the future for my door locks?

Hi John,
I don't think its the remote battery as it was replaced a few weeks ago.

I don't think this is the battery in the key fob. You'll usually get a message in the information display telling you that the battery in the fob is weak.

My money is on the main battery.

I would run it by the dealer at some point have them check for faults.
I would guess that you are going to need a door lock button. Probaly a fault for buttton stuck in the rear ecu.

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I was thinking it might have been due to my son "looking" at the key without my knowledge. A coincidence that yours and mine have done the same thing? I am going to give the remote battery a try just to see if that might work. FWIW, our Q7 started doing things like that a while ago. The dealer said the remote batteries were fine. So, I replaced them and the problem disappeared.
