pcm 2.1 (dvd) with phone buttons
I have a 2005 CTT that has PCM 2.1 with dvd. It does not have phone buttons.
Can I buy a pcm 2.1 with phone buttons and simply hook it up. I have a mobridge with bluetooth ... and my phone does work with my pcm, I just have to use the actual phone to answer and call.
Can I find a used pcm 2.1 with phone buttons and just replace what I have? If so any leads would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but I do not believe any of the PCM 2.1 has bluetooth option. The only phone option it has is the extra wirings & dealer programming so you can use that GSM card slot already in the unit.

I also have a 2005 CTT without the phone buttons. I think it is possible, but may require a good amount of programming.

Mudman2 that is exactly what I have .... mobridge with bluetooth( and Ipod). From the pictures of your mobridge install looks like you have no phone buttons as well. Just like you explained I have to use the phone to dial and answer calls ... but the mic and speaker work great. People can not tell I am calling from the car. I hear mobridge is going to add programing to their system so that the 7 and 9 might serve as the call and answer buttons. But I was looking for another way if they do not eventually do that. Thanks.

Yes you can swap your PCM, but you will need to verify the one you get is the same BOSE option you have, either With or without. But it will need to be coded (programmed) with a PIWIS.

did you ever figure out if the PCM 2.1 with Phone buttons is a plug in? I have the same question and considering buying a unit with phone buttons to replace my current non-phone buttons unit.

It is plug in if you have DVD NAV already, done it myself, you may need coding for extra things such as XM and CD Changer. My XM isn't coded for the unit, but works OK, only 1 glitch I noticed and I already forgot what it is (think it was if I went from XM to CD, then back to radio it would drop to AM as XM isnt available as the last option or something since it is not coded). Also if you have the compass coded in your dash, you could lose it as it appears the coding is actually in the NAV unit itself for DVD based NAVs

Great, thanks....
I have the PCM 2.1 with DVD drive nav and the screen is having the typical issues (white screen, lines, or barely eligible then goes back to normal when I push on the screen on different places). Instead of spending the $400 to replace the screen and still have same base unit (neither the firmware or maps upgraded since new) i found this on ebay and would like to gain some functionality.
The unit is listed as 7L5.035.191f with phone buttons. No info on the firmware but i'm assuming at worst i'd need to buy a newer DVD with maps.
does the dealer have to do the coding if needed?

Anyone with a PIWIS tester can do it (Can't remember the name) which is typically only dealers.
