Default Trailer Hitch

What does the trailer hitch option include other than the hitch? Any other suspension, transmission, or oil cooler differences? Is the rear bumper or rear panel different? Is it possible or feasable to add one to a non trailer hitch Cayenne? I'm considering an S, but am finding some without a hitch. Thanks

Please do a search and you will find more than enough on the topic - to include how to hook up brake controllers, some "issues", etc.

John, thanks, but I did a search before I posted, and the server is down. I'll try the search again tomorrow. I just thought since it was a simple question, and the search failed, someone may have been willing to share their knowledge with me. I'm in no hurry, I'll try again tomorrow. Any comments from members would be appreciated, especially if someone looked into it or added a hitch. I'm trying to determine if a hitch should be high on my priority list when looking for a Cayenne, or if it's not a big deal to add one. If it will require a panel change, or additional wiring, it becomes a priority with the purchase.

Intalling factory trailer hitch. My memory from previous posts is that it is quite an involved process on the old body style. I notice on the 09 trucks the rearend is different so cannot speak to that. Think maybe $1200 dollars if done at the dealer. To bad Larry is not around to give more accurate input!

Not a simple answer to that question which is why JFS suggested the search. Can it be done? Yes. But quite involved, a headache from the posts about it. Strongly suggest you hold out for one with it installed from factory. If you want more detail I suspect you'll have to wait until the search works (RL has been so freaking slooooow for the last couple of weeks (for me at least)).

This is NOT something you want the boys over at U-Haul to do for you in an hour. It is possible to retro-fit the hitch and towing module on your Cayenne. There are significant pieces and replacement parts that compromise your bumper that must be replaced if you are adding the factory hitch.

And then there's the towing module......

As I recall from previous posts, I believe some Cayennes have the hitch but NOT the wiring. If someone else knows more about this, please correct me. I think that adding the wiring harness is quite expensive too, so if you buy a Cayenne with a hitch make sure the wiring is back there.

Also the hitch itself is specific- shorter than most and solid- and heavy! I still have mine which I don't need- shipping wouldn't be cheap however!! You're in for a surprise when the search function starts to work- hope you have a couple days of time to read everything...

Seriously - LOTS of crazy things when you talk trailer hitch and the Cayenne - Hopefully the search engine will be back online because you'll love what we got here...

Pictures of OEM instals, U-Haul installs, Brake Controllers, etc.

Lots of yummy stuff!

Thanks to all who answered. After doing a manual search (going back a year reading posts), it is apparent the logical thing to do is to find a Cayene with a factory option hitch and wiring. After reading "more than enough on the topic" (thanks JFScheck) here, I'll check the vehicle option list carefully when I think I found the right one. Plenty of them out there right now.
