Default any advice re: driving on ice?

I had a tough time couple days ago when our street looked like a hockey rink. I tried few things including starting slow, lowering car, engaging the differential lock, not braking, etc...but nothing seemed to work even with the Pirelli snow & ice tires which usually do fine in snow & rain...I did manage better with just plain steering opposite to sliding direction but oh man, oh man! that car was not in my control...appreciate any suggestions for future.
TIA,
Sam

Chains, or studs. You cannot overcome physics.

Super smooth, super slow is the only other process.

Were you driving the Cayenne or the TT?

I think I'd work from home on a day like that.

I've been driving on ice for a couple of weeks, super smooth and slow is the only way to do it.

The Cayenne, I now wonder if the TT will do better?

There's one near Vail, Colorado too, kind of spendy but looks like great fun.

I can only dream of driving in ice or snow. As a kid growing up in the Great White North I use to take my car in an empty parking lot and have fun.

+1

I'd vote for Porsche chains... they come off the tires.
