Rear seats, latches stuck
Ok, here is one that I don't think I have seen posted yet. I usually fold down my rear seats (lowers fold up first of course) to carry my road bike. The other day I tried and they just would not budge. Tried WD 40, Brute Force and Ignorance and nothing worked. I called the dealer to see if they were covered under the warranty and they were not. Still waiting on a quote.
The design is ****e. It feels cheap and is now proving to be so. Has anyone a solution for a cheap fix?

Have you tried moving the front seats forward?

I especially like the part where the OP said:
"The design is ****e. It feels cheap and is now proving to be so."
Curious....did he know "the design was ****e" when he bought it?
Curious....now that he knows "design was ****e", will he keep it?

So are you basically saying just pull up the latch as best as i can and then stick my shoulder into it??
I am just not trying to break the damn thing but not also pay $400 bucks.

FWIW, I, too, thought it was broken for sure with the amount of force I used. However, I was still in warranty - I would not accept that it isn't covered under warranty if you're still in the original manf. warranty. Go to another dealer if you can't get it... and with the "expectation" that they should fix it. i.e. tell them it's warranty - don't ask.

Unfortunately I am under CPO warranty at this point.
I played a linebacker in college, so hopefully I will be able to free this thing. What is the worst that can happen? Broken shoulder, screwed up seats and then the $400 after I get out of the emergency room? What the hell. With the stock market acting the way it is today, it might temporarily relieve some frustration if I succeed.

FWIW, I have a CPO Pepper and was told by my dealer the warranty coverage is the same as the original factory warranty except for the radio (?). Now they just recently changed the CPO coverage policy but that is NOT retroactive.
Best of luck.

easier way
I just did this myself - crawl in the back with a wide, flat-bladed screwdriver. pull on the lever at the top while you look at the locking mechanism from behind the seat - This allows you to see which part it is trying to move. Lever that part up with the screwdriver while you give the latch on top of the seat a pull. A little WD40 sprayed in the latch mechanism will help. It didn't take much effort at all and hasn't happened again.

Great information - and thanks for posting it. The thread is a bit elderly (2008) but I'm glad someone used search before posting here.
Again - welcome to the forum!
