I was quoted $1700 to paint the red calipers grey. They are still red...

Dealerships do not normally have body/paint shop in house, they typically outsource to a reputable 3rd party for that stuff...you'd be better off going straight to the 3rd party source yourself, ask the dealer who they use, they will normally tell you..

You'd be much better having them powder coated in whatever color you like. I estimate the cost would be <$300 for all four if you take them off.

The dealer is going to nail you for labor to remove, transport re-install and then bleed the brakes.

$1700 is extremely high even at the dealer. They quoted you the go-away price. I suggest you do it yourself, find another dealer or find a private shop to do it.

Curious... Why would you want the red calipers gray?

Keepin' it on the down low?

Yeah, most people want to go the other way and paint them red or yellow...

Paint 'em yourself. It is NOT difficult.

Your car is still under warranty, unless you are over 50,000 miles. If the discoloration is significant, the factory should take care of the problem.

Factory won't cover discolored calipers anymore, they did in the past...I tried to get Porsche to paint the calipers on my 996 turbo about 18 months ago after the white lettering turned yellow from excessive heat...they told me sorry, we don't do that any longer..
