Default New Jeeps?

Ok, so the Cayenne went in for it's 40K service today, wife came back with an '08 Jeep Liberty Rental. All I can say is, "what a POS!" What the hell were they thinking? The design has taken about 10 steps backwards. It looks like a 10 year old designed the exterior. The interior sucks as well. I think a chinese knock-off of a Hummer would look better than this thing. If US car manufacturers are going out of business then it's their own fault!

we went for a dodge caliber...looked much beter then the comp"***"...whick should of benn built buy Yugo...they could of done SO MUCH BETER!!! and with little effort...especial in the compass....jeep is a kinda "rough" brand, and should of designed something along a antique spartan purpose built design...and instead we get "cheap" jeeps which look like a stoned Smurf was asked to design something only happy drunk trolls might hate!

When my wife found me she was driving a Wrangler. Another huge POS! Needless to say I got her out of that and into a new Volvo. She is happier, safer, getting better MPG and in a car that performers better (except in dirt of course). The Jeep even was bad in the snow. Give me FWD and a set of good snows anyday and I will go any place I want.

As long as the snows not more then 5'' deep and not the sticky heavy snow......i hear that last line all the time..."my FWD car can go anywere""...lol no it cant...now my Audi V8 quattro with snows thats a tank! but i did get it stuck last winter trying to drive out of my driveway that had 11'' wet snow bank...which i thought would be no problem having driven threw snow banks taller then the hood...but not that day
I do find most 4x4 systems are actualy verybad in snow...most seem ot want to pull you into the snow bank...the only "truck" iv driven in the snow that was good was my 75' INT ScoutII....thin tires and very heavy works wounders in the snow.

It can beg all it wants, but unless chrysler stole a ton of technology from the Germans, and completely redid the entire system, I wouldn't drive one.

I had a '99 Grand Cherokee. I loved the look. The interior was super comfortable. But I could not stand the suspension or the brakes. The brakes were so mushy I would have nightmares about getting into accidents. It was like mush 3/4 of the way down, and then full on the last 1/4. (Took it to the dealer multiple times and they would always tell me "that's normal"). Suspension was soft too, although it did well under extreme situations.

I owned a 1999 Dodge Durango. That vehicle shares many components with other Chrysler and Jeep vehicles. Based on my experience with that, I will not buy another Chrysler product.

POS? Well - I just purchased an '08 Grand Cherokee with Hemi, upgraded Quadra-Drive II, NAV, Sirus, etc., etc., etc.

How would I compare it to my made to order 2004 fully loaded Cayenne S (or the 2008 Cayenne S I drove before I purchased the Grand Cherokee)? Just as nice - calculate the "Bang for the Buck" factor and it just stomps the Cayenne...

POS - not in this X Cayenne's owners eyes...

John,
How u could go from a Cayenne S to a JGC baffles me, but to each their own. To me there is not another SUV on the planet that can beat the Cayenne right now. Enjoy your new truck!

Jeeps always sucked. I remember looking at them way back when the Limited was their big banana wagoneer. Every one on the lot came with rust, no extra charge. If you looked in the rain gutter that ran along the roof line from front to rear, every one needed painting. Didn't even look like they got hit with overspray.
Still bought one and regretted it until I got rid of it.
