radio gremlin...
....this involves our 08 Cayenne S
it has happened 3 times in the last week or so
driving along listening to AM radio, suddenly the radio switches itself to an
FM station.....but curiously the display says I am still on the AM station!!
Always the same FM station...92.5
I have no presets set, and the 92.5 station ?? I have never tuned to ever
The 2 stations are not linked in any way
when it happens, and I push the tuner button...the display switches to the
92.5 FM ?????
push the tuner button again, and it takes me back to the original AM station
weird

No you are right. There are some radio gremlins. I listened to a station here 92.7 and in some locations, the channel switches. Also, some times it seems like a radio station "skips" almost like the old car CD players about 10 years ago.

Odd...same thing happened on my 04 a few times when I actually used the radio (pre-mObridge). If I remember correctly it usually occurred while driving through the same area...is this the same gremlin from 4+ years ago?

am to to fm are you hitting the button on the steering wheel?
Theres nothing to fail in the raio to casue that.
the fm stations changin by their own is actualy a radio station problem not a radio problem
note the station you are on and the station it siwtchs to, you will need to call the radio staion to tell them they are broadcasting the wrong signal
Theres nothing to fail in the raio to casue that.

Dealership figured I was hitting the steering wheel control by accident. Problem is when I do hit this control(purposefully) it doesn't go to this station.

This has been discussed in this forum in the past, along with the explanation as to what the headunit is doing......oh how I miss MadFox at moment such as these.

The skipping from one channel to another happened to me for a little over a week. Finally quit but it occurred over a 65 mile drive and sometimes it would skip in what seemed like seconds and every once in a while, it would stay on one station for the whole trip. Reminds me of my youth, that trip part anyway. I just never knew what music I was listening to for sure.

well...
small comfort to know that it was not just me..
So I do the requisite search and I glean the following..
Some have replaced head units, without success
Software updates may have helped some....but that was back in '05/'06
I have a new '08....presumably software updates from 2-3 yrs ago do not apply
Then there is the 75 sec Left/Right secret handshake !! I could not find evidence that this was successful
(ie. no followup)
And no...I did not push any buttons on the steering wheel
It occurs at steady state speed, no accel/deccel, no braking and no turning
So, if the answer is still out there, I am ready to listen
TIA

When I complained several times to the dealer, they switched out the old unit and installed a new one. The new one did NOT have bluetooth (Larry, you there??).
