DVD screens in headrests
Hi,
I am looking to install some DVD screens in the headrests of my 03 cayenne turbo for the rear seats.
Has anyone done this?
I'm a little bit nervous cutting up the headrests, but just wanted to know if there's anything to look out for.
They look a little thin, but should be able to take the depth of the screens.
I had the screens on mounts, that attached to the poles of the headrest, but they just shook apart, even with the suspension set on comfort :-)
Thanks
Darrin

I have this in my Avalanche It works great and far beater than the system Porsche came up with. The Porsche system is in your face by bringing the screen 4-5" closer to the passenger. I have not installed it in the CT but it should not be too difficult.

been looking into this recently. The visual logic sustem is close to the factory porsche in the sense that it is a top loading dvd with no moving parts.
Yes its not the easiest thing to get wires down, as it is not likely you will be able to go through the tubes. The systems that come pre-installed in headrests have smaller connectors even.
But I dont think the Cayenne is built for a headrest swap as the headrests are of strange design and so are the seats. Note that headrests narrow towards the top. 7 inch is the largest you can go, and still they would need to be installed at the lower end of the headrest. But I think its the only choice... I am going to be doing this during the next 2 weeks will keep this thread updated and get some shots in.

I am going with visualogic as well... Its an easy solution and the screens have built in DVD players, much simpler with the wiring. The European distributor sent me a pic of what to expect, which is not so bad.
Notice the following. The Cayenne headrest is strange in design. That ebay auction despite saying its for a cayenne, shows headrests for another vehicle. The headrest for the Cayenne scoops low ON the seat back in the front. The vizualogic option does that but to fit the screen they "square" the otherwise pointy headrest (more trapezoid shaped). But its a clean solution, you keep your headrests, and the leather is supposed to be an exact match.
Easy solution I think. More expensive perhaps than others, but also I think the top loading dvd mechanism is more reliable than the solutions with the CD player like opening cover.
