Default Cayenne Turbo or Cayenne Turbo S

Im kinda new to the Cayenne turbo and needed to know, if anyone could tell me the difference between the regular Cayenne Turbo and the Cayenne Turbo S, obviously I know the regular Turbo comes with 450hp while the Turbo S comes with 520hp.....The regular turbo with software upgrade will give you 50 hp bring you up to 500 hp... Dose the Turbo S come with bigger turbos? Like on the 996 Turbo X50 package... Or did Porsche bump up the boost on the Turbo S? Any info would be great.....

Also I am undecided on either buying a 04 or 05 Turbo or paying the extra $$$ and going for the Turbo S. Also was wondering which will have better resale......In about 2 years

I too have spent some time looking lately and can answer a few of your questions.

Turbo S only changes the intercooler and brakes (possibly a software tweak). Badging changes of course and last is the limited production (1500 units I think).

Resale will be higher but not too sure if it will really outpace regualr turbo's by much since they are rare and don't change that much. That's just my opinion although I have considered a couple in the last few weeks... I've seen a couple CTT S's for sub $70's and Mannheim is useless since they are more rare. 2005 CTT should go for low $50-$59 while 2006 CTT should go for low $60-$70 according wholesale sales in recent weeks.

My research shows that you should only consider a 2005 or newer as they worked out the early kinks.

I have also checked Mannheim they dont show any Turbo S's....I could go buy a new one but I refuse to loose that much money so I guess Im looking for the best value....So far my research shows black on black is the hottest color combo and sells much faster then any of the other color combinations. I have found a few in the Mannheim pre-sale in the high 30's to low 40's obviously depending on mileage and condition.

Here is what I found:

2004 black on black 38,000 miles late 04 built with 8 months Porsche factory warrenty left with a price of $46,000

or

2005 Black on black 37,000 miles also late 04 build with 9 months Porsche factory warrenty with a price of $52,500

or

2006 Cayenne Turbo S Black on Tan with 29,000 miles with 36 months factory warrenty with a price of $70,000

which looks like a better buy.

Also I found a extended warrenty through Fedalilty Warrenty from my local porsche dealer for $5,000 for 3 years 100,000 miles. A good friend of mine is a service writer at the dealer and he highly recomends them, he says its almost as good as the factory warrenty. So the question is do I go for the 2006 Turbo S and not buy the warrenty or buy the 04 or 05 and purchase the warrenty...

For the price, I think the TTS is becoming the compelling vehicle of the line-up.

Don't neglect to go to your preferred dealer and work a price at invoice. I did this on an '08 S and an '08 Turbo and ended up ordering the S, but happened across an '05 Power Kit with no sunroof in my preferred color (Titanium) and promptly concluded that having the car now instead of in two or three months and spending tens of thousands less compared to new with the same options was a comfortable decision.

I've had some moments when I wish I had a different car, but just recently, finally getting to use the Cayenne, I'm much happier and overall very pleased with the choice. I'm just sick of new car depreciation, including Porsche, so the '05 Cayenne has been a much better product choice for me. Plus, somehow, I found a Turbo with factory Power Kit, sunroof delete and a nice sprinkling of options (sticker north of $140K) that I'd normally never pay myself, so it was quite the find and the dealer had it priced like a normal '05 Turbo ($80K at the time and I paid quite a bit less, plus I got CPO.) There are some bargains out there, I could have done better on price with another car, but the Power Kit and the feel of this car with sports seats, carbon trim and the unstoppable Power Kit throttle response made it an easy decision to pay a few dollars more.

Anyway, in short, yes, the Turbo S is a great choice and I would caution against a new Cayenne unless you're completely comfortable with the depreciation curve, in which case, sure the newer car has its advantages, no question.

Check Momentum Porsche in Houston. They have a 2006 CTT S with CPO for 69.9k. I think it can be had for less if you like the white with beige interior.

Turbo S - but I hope your SUV doesn't outperfrom your "sports car" if you have more than one vehicle..

Otherwise I would go with a Cayenne S and get a base 911...

You have to ask yourself for 10K is this power/upgrade going to make a world of difference on the streets for an SUV. I took the 08 S for that reason. It was a Demo and got a steal. The dealer took the hit not me. So sometimes do I want to know that I could have 500hp in an SUV - YOU BETCHA! but in the end it was a better choice for my needs. I have a Turbo for the other and I can track it(someday).

To some it is worth the cost and others it isn't.
