HID fogs for the cayenne
hey guys, i want the full whit look in front of the cayenne. so i'm in the process of converting all the front exterior light to be "Xenon" white. so this means i will have to get a hid or xenon conversion kit for the fog lamps. the bulbs show a difference in color from the current bi-xenons in the Cayenne.
my questions are:
1- what is the porsche xenon's brightness are the xenons in the cayenne 4500K, or 5000k stock. i want to get the fog lamps to the same brightness so i wanted to make sure how many "k" are the stock bulbs working on.
2- has some one done this?
3- can u recommend a plug and play item to make this all work?
4- is it easy to replace the little bulb and the corner light bulb in the headlight setup?
thx again for your help

Factory xenon lights are 4300K. They tend to change over time, so they are very bright white when new and take on a little more of a purplish color after a few years.
If you are going to change the fogs and want them to match the headlights, you should probably change all the lights at the same time.

Good times getting the fog lights out/in. PITA
I replaced mine with piaa h7 last night. the PIAA H7 burns at 4000 pretty close to the HID. Tip: take off the cable before you pull it out. I can't imagine getting an HID in that space.

Most HID systems are close to plug and play. There is not a lot of room in most fog lights(behind the housing area) to insert the HID bulbs. So it makes for a tight fit. I did this for the 997TT and the tech said it wasn't fun but without a lift it would have been time consuming. I plan on the same with my CS. I am not sure as I have not checked the bulb type for the 08's compared to the 1st Gen CS's.
I will search before I ask what bulb type is in the 08 CS's. I assume the same but then again you know what they say about ASSumptions.
Would be a good weekend project to complete.

good luck finding a set that wont trigger the display to give you a bulb out error and not set off the parking distance lights constantly
those who have tried this already know what i mean
leave them as they are ,my .02 cents

Sorry to dig up this old post, but ran into this search result, just wanted to make sure I got this correct, so does Cayenne have the faulty light sensor when the fog light bulb goes out?
Can someone confirm this? I know BMW has the different LCM (light control module) for different options, for example, the cars with HID versus halogen headlights.
I'm about to pull the trigger on the new set of HID kit for fog lights but wanted to hear from someone who actually experienced the fog light faulty warning msg on the dash when the fog light bulb burns out.
Thanks in advance!

I guess ultimately who has successfully implemented the real HID kit on the Cayenne fog lights w/o having to worry about the faulty warning or the resistor pack?

I haven't heard of anyone doing that - but who knows? Maybe lots of people have done it...
From a functionality standpoint, the fog lights would actually work better in fog with more of a yellow light. You can buy HID lights that are a lower color temperature and in the "yellow" color range.
If you're doing it just for a look and not for better lighting in the fog, then that's another story.
