So did you go with HPS, Ceramic or LTS?

1 x Hawk HPS brake pads - front (D977) (for models with 350mm front rotors) (63-410-0977) = $137.00

Not to highjack this thread Mike, but how about pictures of your drilled rotors installed?

I know it's a bit early... but do you have any opinions on noise, grip or dust?
I'm really close to starting mine... I ordered OE rotors from Sunset and am waiting for them to arrive. I just hadn't decided on HPS/Ceramics...
Also, did you use any thread compound on the caliper bolts? Red, Blue? 200lb/ft? Did you bed the brakes like on Hawk's site? Thanks!!

So for now do you have HPS in front and OE in back?

Your right it is a bit early. I have no noise but then again I am babying it right now using engine braking as much as possible. No vibration no noticable reduction in performance yet.

oh and no dust.

I used blue on the caliper bolts and yes 200lb. I was suprised how easy getting those blts out were using the torque wrench in reverse.

I am following the bedding instructions as much as possible.

the 200 LBS on the caliper bolt has been my concern for getting the calipers off. It just seems like it is tough to get access to get those off in that area. Is that an issue or is it possible with everyday tools in my garage.

just planning ahead for the next brake job.

So long as you turn the wheel to full lock you dont have clearance problems I could use the torque wrench (long handle) standing up to get them free.

I used a long breaker bar (about 24 inches, IIRC) to get the bolts off. Torque wrenches can be used, but I think it's generally recommended you don't use a torque wrench for breaking bolts loose.

I bought new caliper bolts and didn't use any Locktight which I didn't think was necessary with the new bolts. If you re-use the old ones, I'd recommend Locktight.

Be sure to check for any cracks that connect 2 holes in a cross drilled rotor....if the holes become connected, it's usually time to toss the rotor.

FWIW, I wouldn't go with cross drilled rotors on a Cayenne.....but then again, that's just Larry talking.

Yes. I just got up to 600 miles following a trip to Quantico. Rear wheeks black dust. Front wheels no dust

No difference in braking that I can tell.

Worth the $ !

sounds great... I'll order the same. I got my rotors, bolts and sensors from Sunset today... Where did you get the Hawk HPS pads? Tirerack?

Oh and btw, my new caliper bolts were not impregnated with loc-tite... should I use a bit of blue?
