Lots of threads on V1 installs on 997 series. Not much on Cayenne. Seaching for hardwire answer to either homelink or power roof or even overhead light. I don't really want to run a kit from floor. Got a quote for 220 bucks to do that. I had it in my light swith on my 997. Any ideas?

Its easy to just run the cable around the windscreen from the drivers side or passenger side fusebox. The center sunvisor can be used to hold and hide the cable when its not in use.

Run V1 hardwire cable along top of windshield, in existing gap between windshield and headliner, down along the driver's side A pillar (remove A pillar...carefully....and route aforementioned V1 hardwire cable down the channel....carefully replace A pillar trim) and connect to switched fuse location in the fusebox (location and # have been discussed before).
Done. Should take one hour or less.

capt601 and ltc, thanks, I'm attempting to find the link on the correct fuse hook up just in case, but tomorrow night i'm going to go for homelink hookup on my 08S. I hope the wires are the same.

IIRC, yes.
Besides, Homelink only requires 12v and GND, which is always there in the overhead ... Although some people like switched 12v in case someone gets in the car without keys.
You can buy the OEM Homelink retrofit kit from Gert at Carnewal.com

I found the homelink wiring but can't sem to get voltage from it. Is it possible the fuse is blown?
I also have a seemingly unrelated issue but now I'm wondering if it's possibly related. My front dome light hasn't been working. Both map lights do work so i assumed it was the bulb. However when i pulled off the part to get at the homelink wirinig i popped in a new bulb and it still didn't work. I'm wondering if it's all the same fuse?

It really is SUPER easy to just run the factory V1 wiring down the A-pillar and plug it into a switched (+) fuse and ground it to the dash bolt. Less than 2 min of work.
The cord just tucks in behind the headliner and A-pillar trim without removing them. This drops it right into the fuse box on the drivers side. Find an option your Cayenne did not come with but has a fuse slot for and you are good to go.
This also locates the accessory port for the V1 right behind the dash so you can add a turn signal stalk mute switch. You can buy this little switch on ebay for about $5-10. It is a micro switch that plugs into the V1 hardwire kit and can be mounted anywhere. I put mine on the back of the turn signal stalks in my cars.
This picture is from my Jeep. (did not have a CTT pic). Picture kinda makes it look big, but it hides very nicely behind the stalk. This way you never have to move your hands to mute. Great when passengers are in the car. (also lets you change modes, program, etc from the mute switch. It is just like pressing the button on the V1 itself)

I ran mine down the a-pillar and put the remote indicator/mute button on the top left corner of the dash, at the base of the a-pillar. I like it because I sometimes miss the light on the unit itself. I use suction cup mounts on the windshield just below the rearview mirror to mount the radar detector.
