It is mounted in an encasement in the grill in the front with an uninterrupted view towards upcoming radar. It works perfectly and I get the same range in front but the handoff to rear is not as fluid as it does not have a perfect view towards the rear.

Radar is line of sight. So range is going to be totally effected by hoe high it's mounted. Kinda like standing on your tippy toes to see over a crowd. If the signal is being blocked by cars and hills your range wii be greatly reduced.

I have seen some pretty slick installs where the unit was hidden in the 3rd brake light cover or built into the headliner, just low enough to have line of site front to rear.

Here is one in the headliner.

FWIW, the V1 integrated into a rear mirror has been around for years.
You can't swing a dead cat and not find an discussion via Google in almost every car forum.

When it comes to speed detection yes.

A week bouncing signal can't be used to determine your speed and it also does not give the radar locator ant useful information.
