New C TTS -- A New Owner's Questions
Hi,
I'm a returning Rennlist member, formally a 996 C4 owner, and now the proud owner of a CTTS. I bought the car from Georgia with 84 miles on it. However, it didn't come with an owners manual and all of the nice demonstration of features that comes with a purchase from a local dealer.
I did a search on past posts, and didn't get any hits on the following questions. I was hoping some of you would be able to tie me over with some of the most pressing things while I'm waiting on a new manual to arrive. Thanks in advance.
#1) When I press the music note sign on the steering wheel, XM comes up as an option. I would prefer Sirius. Can I change that? If so, how? If not, how do I activate XM? (I currently have Sirius and they require a radio ID to turn on service.)
#2) Where does the Nav DVD go, or more specifically, where is the Nav DVD 'player'?
#3) At the risk of starting a bunch of blinking VCR clock comments/jokes, how the hell do you set the clock??
For those that my have known me when I was a member in the past, I'm Troy Allison. I use to be the co-owner of the NCRC/ARC. Looking forward to connecting with old friends on this list.
Best,
Troy

Congrats on the purchase Troy!
1. Not sure. I've got XM in mine and for some reason I don't think Sirius is available... May have to wait for the merger...
2. It's under the passenger front seat.
3. You need to press the button under the wiper stalk on the right side of the steering wheel. Once you do that, you activate a number of optional settings that will appear in the center of the instrument display. Just follow the options and you'll figure it out.

Thanks Red911 for the info. I managed to get the clock set to the correct time (being mostly German, that makes a HUGE difference for me). I did also find the Nav DVD 'player' also.
On Sirius and XM, I saw on the options list both being offered. I'm not sure one option is exclusive of the other, or you can pick which one you prefer should you order either. Regardless, how do you turn on the service?
Thanks again,
Troy

Welcome back, I also came from a C4 to a turbo, so no S!
If you go to renntech.org, they have manuals online, if you need one until you get a hard copy.
XM activation
https://xmro-secure.xmradio.com/list...re/activate.xm
You need your xm tuners ID, which I think is on channel one. That, or when you select XM, you should see the number.

I think you have to accept whichever sat service that comes with the car. If memory serves they come with both but your stuck with that service, unless you want to go with an aftermarket system, which will sound OK but not have all the features through PCM.

Thanks Chip and Chris. Very helpful posts.
Chip -- that's what I suspected on the sat service... I wonder what it takes to toggle it from XM to Sirius? Well, may have to wait for ther XM-Sirius merger, as Red911 said...

As a matter of fact, IIRC, Larry (R.I.P.) even posted some of the 12 page TSB from hell, detailing part numbers, etc.
