I would not be surprised if many of you that don't think you have a coil going may actually do - especially if the person who drives the car is not of the "Porsche Passion" (eg. pays attention to the running of the vehicle).

Coil bad - 2004CS (late model build) at 37,000 miles...

Was fine till they replaced the spark plugs - speculate that removal of the coils and reconnection caused the problem to surface a little quicker as it's not the coil per say - but the material that they are made out of...

there shouldn't be an issue with 2005 and newer models.

2004 CS and I have had them all replaced as well as every other problem that is common to the 2003/2004 Cayenne.
Though it is running quite well now with only 2,000 more km to go under warranty.

Engine can shake roughly at idle, Hesitation and slightly lurches or surges when applying the thottle. Engine lugs when it a higher gear and you press on the thottle, for example slowing from 60 mph to 20 on the highway, will still be in 6th gear and when you slighly press on the throttle will feel the engine lugging.

It really does shows it self more when its cold and in below 0 temperatures.

Gents,

All eight replaced at 61,XXX, under extended warranty.

Ran OK, but I did notice a slight roughness at idle....

Default to go further off topic....

i cannot believe they haven't fixed this problem yet. pencil coils have been a problem in VAG products for what, 10 years now?? either you can build one that works or you can't. if you can't, build something different, don't just keep hoping you will get the bugs worked out on the backs of your customers...

Mine replaced at 30000. Service tech is a great fellow and proactively replaced all 8 coils. Don't know for sure if all or some had gone bad but tech knew of the problems and proactively fixed them.
