Thanks for the tip. I've never had any major work done there so I'll see how it goes. I had 5/03 build CS before the CTT (which is a 1/04 build). Turning off PSM on the 5/03 did not cause the car to start out in 1st. It tried to convey this to them but they pretty much ignored me. The CTT is "new" enough that many of those issues are resolved (except for the stupid rear seat buckels).

I asked them to check the coils this time, and the squeaky brakes.

OMG my new stuttering heavy acceleration issue has been diagnosed as coils (bullshi%%) may be on set 3 before set two sees 5000KM. I think the trans is faulty - lets see who wins

Mine were replaced once last year. I complained again earlier this week and they replaced all 8 again after seeing hairline cracks again. Apparently this time they put in the "newly designed coils" not sure of thats true or not but my performance is back !!

As Murphy's Law would have it, mine now needs coils. ODO : 50,007!! Dealer quote: $700 to replace coils and plugs.

I only have 4100 miles on my 06' CTT and all 8 are being replaced tommorow. That said it was idling rough with showing 1 bad coil. The new Service Advisor Ellen informed me they will replace all 8.

JF & Scottitude>> did you work with Gill & Monica at Rockville Porsche ?

$700 doesn't seem excessive for that, IMO.

BTW after 33k still no coils.

I know it is coming, though.

Wow, how many hours labor are they charging you??? The coils are only $12 a piece i believe... something silly cheap... waranty time is 1.4 hours i believe... 1.7 with plugs. So 3 hours CP... sounds high..

Is the coil change a relatively easy DIY fix?

I haven't had any symptoms yet and I am still running my originaly coils at 38K.

Maybe I'll change the coils and plugs myself...

I believe I saw another thread in the last 3 or 4 weeks with the (new) coil p/n's from someone who DIY'd. Said it was a breeze and I think he also replaced the plugs at the same time. Said the biggest (and very minor at that) issue was removing the plastic trim on the right side of the engine ?? IIRC I think he had the whole job done in well under 2 hrs. Hopefully my memory is not failing me now.

I would check how many miles were on the car when you took delivery and deduct them from the 50007!

OK, my memory was only partially right/wrong, it was in the Coils TSB thread (pg 5 & 6) and I think it was BrendanC (?) who posted much of the info. Also, much info inc. pics are in a thread titled " Slight Roughness at low speeds" (I can never remember how to post links to other threads or I'd do it here) so search for that thread. HTH

Should I ask the dealer to check the coils at 4 year old anyway?
