Was beginning to think you had fried DMD's circuits with your post about your bun warmer, but it seems he's recovered.

I had nothing to do with DMD's circuits. However, I doubt he'll ever recover from knowing that a man was behind the wheel of this pink Cayenne :-D

Did you have to remind me of that?

No, that's not the way the marketing plan goes.....haven't you been paying attention?
You are supposed to be forced into a new Cayenne purchase in order to avoid 'nakedness' and/or to get the options that you really want that are not retrofittable and your highly depreciated Cayenne becomes a low cost entry point to a first time Porsche buyer.
I too would wonder how it is that a dealer would REALLY give $40-$50K for 50+K mile Cayenne Turbo....there's a bunch on cars.com @ retail $40-$50K...

I guess there's a difference between what dealers "SHOW" you are getting on your trade, (while padding the new purchase heavily) and what dealers are "REALLY PAYING" for the trade...

I understand that there will be some variance due to options, but what I am wondering is what dealers would pay for Cayenne Turbo if someone walked in off the street and said, "I need to SELL my Cayenne Turbo, what is the most you will give me for it, if it was a:"

a) a 20K mile car
b) a 40K mile car

I don't really want anything much higher miles than that...

Offered exactly that on a CTTS today...dealer said "no go." I said "bye." Gave them my number...perhaps they'll come around.

Doubt it.. not for a new one.. it'll eventually sell.. I can't see them coming off that much.. 20-25K seems to be tops at that price range.

Hmmn, excuse me Sir, but based on your quote from the 'mpg' thread:

"Lesson from 2007...
Having even at least a passing interest in not further depleting our natural resources and burning more holes in the ozone layer is a good thing."

Would you like to either:
A. reconsider your answer?
or
B. go hug a tree?

Larry, regarding a tit.s and a turbo, the latter has a MUCH nicer passing gear. Just put 1200 miles this past week in my truck with a drive to British Columbia and it was sweet! Blizzaks worked well.

Whoa, now wait a minute. I said having "at least a passing interest" is a good thing. I never did subscribe to any sort of tree-hugger ideology. I was just offering up another perspective.

You had stated that the MPG concern was solely one premised on money. I simply raised another key issue involved--especially today in 2007--that having a passing concern for MPG is not such a bad thing. For me, it is exactly that--a passing concern. Given 2 vehicles offering equivalent performance, I would choose the more environmentally friendly one. Given a far better performing vehicle versus one that has inferior performance, but is more environmentally friendly, I would in all likelihood choose the latter over the former.
