Honestly, besides this problem (major imho), I am very happy with the CD based navigation...

If enough people have this pb, I hope we can get P to fix it (again, not a data update imho).

I am getting no replies in the same thread for the 03 996 which has the same problem...

Honestly, ............ P's answer is spelled D.V.D. no matter how many people write letters (i.e. we tried that). Search forum on CD and you'll even see some very nice letters that took PCNA Four months to respond to.. fix or update.... ha! pass the kool-aid!

I remember the data update threads, but again I don't think this is a data problem. It is a malfunction. You guys wanted new data, this could be different. I am this || close from asking then to fix it or replace it by a DVD based system. Would that hold in court?? And that would solve everybody's problem if you have that "bug", just force P to get us DVD based navigation.

I think it's time for SciFrog to take a step back from the punch bowl, I think he's had enough Purplesaurus Rex for now.

Based on the info of my similar thread in the 996 forum, it is a combination of flawed data and wrong software. So it will never be fixed. I need two new cars.

Get Real Frogman... you can live with it and/or spend a couple hundreds of $$$ and buy a garman handheld! The NAV is nice.. but certainly overpriced and in the CD version.. it will become more and more outdated. The DVD nave will be updated for awhile.. but eventually they'll have miniDVD or something else and the current DVD's won't be updated anymore.. certainly not with more details or photos of the building and stuff like that. it is what it is.........

Just try explaining the wife that to get somewhere she needs to use the town center, then reinput the whole address when she gets closer to the destination in her $100,000 CTT... Laughable... Maybe I should get her the mini convertible she wants...

Default i have decided ....

that buying built in nav systems is a suckers game. i have the dvd system on my soon to be lemonaided cayenne, and while i have the latest update, my 400 buck lowrance IMAP500 has both better nav, better data and the updates cost 69 bucks. the porsche approved nav systems costs 4500? has software artifacts in the nav routing, and the updates (from the same company) cost 299.00.

next year the portable navs will let you see weather and traffic (ooops, those are already out), 5 years from now you will be able to get the holographic heads up display that will also warn you of cops, kids running from behind cars and deer by tying in KH-11 sat data to AI intel.

or, you can still be whining to porsche about your 5 year old nav data.
