Default iPod Finally integrated with my PCM !

I went to my dealership (manhattan motor cars) last week to replace a flat tire on my 05 Cayenne Turbo and was told that the iPod integration was available !

Got it installed in a couple of hours and yes it works thru the PCM (NOT FM Modulator). I'll post some photos later in the week, but my impressions so far are:

- Hefty price, cost me $1400
- Sounds is great, clear as digital
- you lose the CD changer in the trunk
- The iPod sits in the glovebox and is charged when connected
- the iPod control thru the PCM is not great: It works but is difficult to work. I wish they let me control the menu from my iPod

Overall, i like it. I can finally listen to my iPod with full digital quality in my car !

Well it's not the first of April, is it?

Is this a third party product? Does the iPOD emulate a changer so that the PCM can only select from 6 playlists? The iPOD adapter my wife's Volvo works in this manner so all you see on the radio display is CD1 TRK1 (for playlist 1) and so forth.
Does metadata display on the PCM? Can you navigate the iPOD library through the PCM?

Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

dlipetz,

No, it's not an April fool's joke. I promiss. It is a third party product, i think it's the dension thingy, but I am not sure.
The PCM allows you to look at music by genre, artist, playlist. You are not limited to 6 playlists. It works like this:

- First you select "CD LIst". That brings up a menu which allows you to select your "browse by" setting: playlist, genre, artist, etc,
- Then yo exit out of that, and go into "Track List", which shows you a list ALL of your playlists, artists, etc .. based on your "CD List" Selection

Meta data is displayed, so as songs play, you get the name/artist/track. But isnce the display is small, most of the time, the data is truncated.

for 1400? I may be driving an "upscale" vehicle but come on...

for that price I'd rather keep my 100 dollar FM transmitter. Geez.

Agreed, $1400 to pipe MP3's into your system is a bit foolish IMHO.
