So much for retirement!
I'm thinking I might want to drive VIR either next year or the year after.

Now I am confused. My lights work fine. The Cayenne thinks they don't but still operates them fine. Why would I tape Maglites to the trailer?

Andrei......Lewis is just giving you a hard time. Obviously you are new to the party here in our wonderful phunny pharm and you were just baptized by fire.

Let's go to the videotape evidence, shall we?
In your FIRST post in the Cayenne forum
https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-955-957-2003-2010/280407-just-put-a-deposit-on-a-cs.html
we had the first "warning" sign; here was my reply:

PSSST.....
Ask him about his trailer lighting configuration and brake controller.........

And in the same thread:

OK, let's keep moving.......in another of your Cayenne forum threads:

ATC/Featherlite/CargoPro/Thule?

And I'm sure you have stayed away from LED lighting and have the "correct" number of incandescent lights ?

To which you replied:
Pace Silver Arrow model. Yes, no LED lights. I am not sure about the "correct" number of lights. Well, nobody is . My guess that with a 20' it will not be too much.

(NOTE: It would appear as though you guessed wrong)

In the same thread, we continue:

If you have a moment, please do a quick count of the lights/bulbs (marker lights, brake and directional).
You may be surprised how many lights you can put on a 20' trailer.

'skl' has an ATC that had "too many" lights and I know of a 10' (yes TEN foot) trailer that had as many lights as a 20'......all of the above referenced cars threw the "!"......but only one Cayenne that I know of has ever been documented for leaving the driver totally in the dark.....no names please.

Please do. The fix will be relatively straightforward.....step ladder, screwdriver and unplug a few marker lights.

I hope you're not afraid of heights, because I see a ladder in your future.

Wait a minute.....has anyone's Cayenne caught fire due to "!"

I thought we agreed not to mention the "Trailer Lighting Incident "!" that ended up looking like this:

Now look what I've done, I've gone and scared another new guy

Pfft, stepladders.
I will just put tape over the ! indicator. Lots of people use that method for the "Check Engine" light.

I have posted the results. Everything works fine. Stray indicator lights on the dash don't seem to affect how things work.

Hold that thought.....
You may want to PM 'skl' and ask him about his headlight experiences when one is a bit too far over the 'magic number' of lights.

I have had no problems trailering with my 06 Turbo. I went to Mont Tremblant and WGI in the past month without any issues.

Open trailer/ small number of incandescent lights = PAG/Westfalia 1D6 lighting load assumption = no "!"
Similar to boat trailer.
It is LED and/or "too many" incandescent lights on enclosed car haulers (proper trailers)

I agree.. At least there is a combination that will work. Too bad PAG has kept it a secret. I have to thank ltc for helping me figure out how to make trailering work.

Mentioning/Thanking me in THIS forum is SURE to get you put on the Defenders of the Cayenne Faithful's Black list

But since they're not listening at the moment....you're welcome.

Dell,
So what you're telling me is that in fact owning the Cayenne was a GOOD thing for me, since it came with the tight fitting pajamas and meds?

Hmmmn, maybe I'll buy another one, just for fun
