Default Took delivery of my Cayenne S

The usual options (Xenons, park assist, comfort lighting, 19" rims, other stuff I forget now) plus PASM.

Crystal silver with black interior.

Impressions so far:

I like it. Yes, it's not a sportscar but it is the Porsche of SUVs.
I am still playing with the PASM settings but I find setting it on comfort and leaving the height in low give a comfortable ride but there is still plenty of control. I need to drive it more to get a feel for the differences between the 3 settings for the shocks.

I love the menu system for various comfort settings. On other cars one has to go to the dealer to make changes which means it never gets done. But now I just pushed a couple buttons and the car doesn't beep when I open it and all doors unlock. Awesome.

I also appreciate the fact that Porsche put real brakes on a car of this size. Coming from BMWland crappy stock brakes was one of my biggest complaints. Even if the brakes on the trailer fail I can still hope to eventually stop.

In about 3 weeks I will test it out as a tow vehicle pulling a 20' aluminum car trailer. Thanks to this board I think I know enough to make the brake controller work. I will most likely stay away from the Prodigy model as 2006 models don't give easy access to the brake pedal sensor wire. I will use something simpler that will plugs into the harness without hacks.

Nice color and options!

Now, get thee to the dealer and get the clear turn signals. Best cosmetic mod going.

Enjoy.

ATC/Featherlite/CargoPro/Thule?

And I'm sure you have stayed away from LED lighting and have the "correct" number of incandescent lights ?
See you in 3 weeks !

Wish mine had the painted lower panels- mine is a late '04 a month before they started painting them... I got black just so it would at least match- the silver looks great with the painted lowers. I tow a 18' V nosed ATC trailer (total length 22') and other than the ! ,(I haven't disconnected the "proper" number of running lights) it does just fine as long as you shift yourself. Welcome to the crowd... and don't worry, Lewis is really harmless...

Yes, and remember to not make direct eye contact.
However, if you do, do NOT turn your back......back away slowly, no sudden movements that might trigger a 'Cayenne ownership reflex'

This forum is still fun- it keeps Lewis around even though he isn't officially one of us anymore

Wait a minute.....

I'm not a member of the Cayenne cult anymore?
You mean the effects were NOT permanent?
The lifetime/permanent membership exemption has been revoked?

Wait a minute.....why do I suddenly feel like Richard Gere (Zack Mayo) in 'An Officer and a Gentleman'.....

Foley: "You can forget it! You're out!"
Zach: "DON'T YOU DO IT! DON'T! YOU...I GOT NOWHERE ELSE TO GO! I got nowhere else to g...I got nothin else."

Link to wav file.....adds a nice touch:

OK, so who is going to ask our Esteemed Moderator if he is willing to play the part of Louis Gossett Jr as Gunnery Sgt Emil Foley.....

Pace Silver Arrow model. Yes, no LED lights. I am not sure about the "correct" number of lights. Well, nobody is . My guess that with a 20' it will not be too much.

I will definitely post the results.

And keep posting, Lewis. Bringing those of us who still "believe" back to reality is a good counterbalance.

If you have a moment, please do a quick count of the lights/bulbs (marker lights, brake and directional).
You may be surprised how many lights you can put on a 20' trailer.
'skl' has an ATC that had "too many" lights and I know of a 10' (yes TEN foot) trailer that had as many lights as a 20'......all of the above referenced cars threw the "!"......but only one Cayenne that I know of has ever been documented for leaving the driver totally in the dark.....no names please.

However, thanks to the electronics wizards of UHaul and as posted by 'wingless', you can now spend $29.99 and purchase an adapter that will sedate a Cayenne (or Touareg or Audi....they're all the same car under the skin) and make it work with LED trailer lighting.......no, I'm not kidding:

Please do. The fix will be relatively straightforward.....step ladder, screwdriver and unplug a few marker lights.

As long as I can answer some questions, make some people laugh and some people angry.....life is good.
Owning a modern Porsche (Cayenne in my case) was sort of like dreaming of some day being married to a supermodel.....once you are, it's not exactly everything you thought it would be. I found out too many things about the 'new' PAG that made me sorry I ever got married.....
