ltc, could you please inform me (us) as to who is the manufacturer for Audi's audio system. With my new Porsche wagon-ooooops, A-3, they told me that an adaptor is available for their radio that replaces the 6 disc in-dash CD player with the iPod unit. PS isn't the Piech (sp?) family involved with both companies??

Becker. If it's German, it must be Becker.

There are infotainment architectures that allow the iPod to be controlled directly via the headunit over a simple H/W interface (hmmmn, I seem to recall designing one for Audi a while ago, but I digress); examples include Honda, Audi and many aftermarket headunits....such is the case here.

Default But wait, there's more....

It never rains, but it pours.

It would appear as though NAV-TV is now offering an iPod MOST adapter:
http://www.nav-tv.com/most.html

You can even call/email the CEO of NAV-TV:
For more information, email Moni Melman, CEO of NAV-TV Corp. or call 561-955-9770

This ought to be good.

Once again the Beta team takes it on the chin.

I called them, said Ipod unit retails for $800. Can control the ipod on your nav system/non nav, charge ipod. You loose the cd changer. Unit "breaks" into the fiber optic cable from the back, no idea what that means. He says its not a very intense install, but what does he know.

And if you are interested, the system they sell to have the tv/video funtion work on the 05'+ nav, costs 2400 at retail. Guy said you should be able to get the unit at $2,400 installed, because they sell the units to their installers for substantially less.

The place on a scale of 10, gets about a 5 on the sketchy meter.

Just a suggestion - but sticking with the local team - i.e. Eric Bumper Plug Guy - would seem by far the best route.

He's 'local' to the forum

He's done nothing but stella work to date

He's doing a group buy option

Eventually they might be giving these things away with breakfast ceral, who knows - but right now, I' dstick with the local team for the best chance of a positive result.

(Any chance of a discount for that Eric? Only kidding... )

Chris.

Breaking into the ring simply means he inserted the unit into the optic ring.

I installed one of these units from NAV-TV last weekend and immediately removed it.

The MOST unit did not recover from ring break and hosed the entire system. The system did not recover until it was removed.

The video module did not resize the video screen to suit the PCM and the presentation of the box looked as though the connector cutouts were made by hand.

I then slipped in a prototype unit from another company that did the same thing at half the cost and had no issues.
