I got my local Porsche newsletter Today and the dealer is promoting an 1PoD adapter for the 996 and Boxster Factory Fitted. But nothing For the Ceyanne or 997

David,

can you post details?

This is huge, I've been waiting for the iPod 996 integration for ever!

Hope it can be retro-fitted to pre 06 models...

Chris.

For no good reason (other than my love for this thread), I called Dice:
http://www.diceelectronics.com/ipod_...ation_most.htm
and asked about the availability of the iPod/MOST adapter for Porsche.

The woman replied with 6-8 weeks and $359.99

So, checking the calendar, I would respectfully request that our esteemed moderator set a wake up call for sometime between August 16th and August 30th......BTW, that would be August of this year, 2006.

If not too late, perhaps someone near Las Vegas could check the latest odds, or the over/under date, for the release of this product.......

This is so entertaining...

Word on the street is that they ran out of cables and have to order in more with a 12 week lead time. 6-8 weeks would be optomistic.

However there is an alternative in the pipeworks from a different source that is about 12 weeks away and also provides more functionality.

Pardon me....it would appear as though my Bu!!**** Detector just went completely off the scale.
12 week leadtime for a fiber optic cable? I can make one in about 12 minutes..

I think the lead time was on the iPod connector or so I was told...but then again it changes from week to week. I'm still waiting for the 'cat ate it' version.

That one I can actually believe.
Apple, in addition to charging you a flat % of the MSRP for anything iPod...yes, even the car OEM's have to pay, keeps pretty tight control on that connector and its supplier.
I've even heard of some folks, actually buying iPod adapters (chargers, etc) cutting off the connector/cable and throwing away the rest, just to have connectors available for prototype and demonstration units for MOST iPod adapters.......no names of course.

We now return you to the 'Dension/DICE/MOSTCooperation/iPod/AnyDay now soap opera".......

Default They're skating in hell as we speak....

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/289146-dension-ice-link-released.html

If it's from Eric (one of the nicest and most decent guys you could deal with), I'd say you're OK.

Damn, I KNEW I should have held onto the Cayenne just a LITTLE bit longer.

P.S. How ironic, my 6000th post would be about a MOST adapter

Hi Guys, Sorry been in Asia longer than expected. The local Melbourne dealer is using an aftermarket installer. I have to pick up my Pepper after some warranty work this morning so I will ask the question.

BTW I had to have my engine water pump and the rear aircondition heat pump replaced. Next are the 10 heater flap motors. Also had the cargraphic ECU upgrade with their new exhaust so cant wait to drive it in anger.

The Melbourne company with the 996 and early Boxter Ipod adapter is Autofidelity - Jonathan Bergman - email: autofidelity@optusnet.com.au - Apparenly the kits are great according to the Porsche Service manager and he has a late model kit out within a few weeks for the later model cars. The gent is an Electronic engineer - so I gather he has it all sorted.

Apoligies for the delay in the info Gents.
