Default New '06 CS-- Silver Hood Crest

This week I will be picking up my new CS. I got Basalt Black on Black full leather.

I think the gold hood crest looks a little out of place given the black and /alluminum silver color scheme of the car.

Does anyone know where I can get a silver hood crest that would match better, how much it costs, and who can install it (dealer?), and price for instalation. Same goes for steering wheel crest (but I suspect that may be more of an issue given possible complications with the airbag).

Thanks

IIRC, changing the hood crest on a Cayenne is NOT as simple as changing it on a 'normal' Porsche....I believe previous posts said you have to remove the nose to get access to the rear of the badge? A search should confirm this......

Taking the front bumper off to put that silver crest on seems like way to much work/expense. Kinda like turning the room to screw in a light bulb.

Has anyone actually done this on their Cayenne? Afterthoughts about whether it was worth the cost/expense?

I wonder why Porsche didn't just make this a factory option?

Kevin M. had his dealer in Fresno do it for him prior to delivery. Can't remember the details though as it has been over two years.

I had the dealership put on the front skid plate, which also requires removing the front bumper assembly. They charged for about 1 hour of time for the removal and replacement of the bumper. If you were interested in installing the skid plate as well as the new silver crest, at least the removal of the bumper would accomplish 2 objectives.

As for the emblem on the steering wheel, I think that is part of the airbag and thus the whole unit needs to be replaced...

Am I the only one that still likes the gold crest better?? It seems like the same thing as the "clear" side lights. PS do these changes make the thing perform better? I like them the way they are!! IMHO

Agree with Herr Kerr above ...I like the colored emblem better, too... Beauty, however, is in the eye of the beholder, so I say dress it up anyway you like...as long as it makes you happy. BTW, I DO like the clear side marker lights...
