If you have a hitch you could buy one of the Warn models that attach to the receiver. You might also look into the VW Touareg parts bin. There is now an optional winch from VW for the Touareg.

na, I have researched that! I see that Warn has a kit for the H2!! which is about the same age as the Cayenne.. and I dont want to be hauling a portable unit around, with the limited rear storage area.. ok I can hang it off the back as I go.but come on, this is suppose to be a "off road" SUV...

anyone want to design an unit? I have used the Hidden Warn units in my Tahoes, a design similar to this would work, Plus would be a unit that works with the front pan. ??

I have heard that wenches love rovers, so, yeah, go for it! I am planning on a wench kit for my Cayenne too. It involves folding down the back seats, installing some darker rear window tint and adding an air-up mattress.

No, seriously, I think we're really talking about winches here. Again, check out the VW Touareg parts bin. They already have a Warn winch installation on their Expedition model of the Touareg. See below. Check out this news article from GermanCarFans: click here

No surprise there. Dealers never seem to know anything.

Still, I would like to see someone look into the VW winch solution. VW will have all the necessary mounting brackets and hardware and they will have tested everything. I think it would be better than an aftermarket solution. It's just a matter of finding the right VW part numbers. Maybe one of the online VW parts houses could be of help.

And, just so we don't get TOO far off topic, let's not even discuss mounting the wench!

With the right setup I hear you can mount a wench on the front or back .

I had heard that but never managed it even though the grab handles are very well placed.

Winch: local 4 wheel shops wont touch it due to a liability issues. so checking with my P-dealer and his contacts at the other VW shops, no clue (as expected!) on the kit used in the Touareg. No news on the dealer side either....

so off to the garage to remove the lower skid plate and start measureing..

Perhaps VAG is not offering this option/equipment in the US?

You may ask Gert (www.carnewal.com) if he has any information from the other side of the pond.
