I am a victim...
Well, am I the first victim of Californias new headlight law? You must now have your headlights on during the day - during rain.
It been raining for days locally. I've had my headlights, heater, radio - is there any thing else?
Now who thinks battery conservation, yeah I know short trips & this has happened to me before.
This morning - a dead battery. Called 800-Porsche for help; three times and circuits down no help. Called AAA direct got a boost within half hour. Less time than I wasted on 800 Porche....

It's too bad they have to legislate this.
It's common sense, yes. But driving in the pouring rain for the past few days, I see so many that still haven't figured it out. Turning on your lights in the rain actually DOES make it easier for others to see you.
You may consider buying one of those battery chargers that Porsche offers, especially if you drive infrequently

Originally the S came with two batteries and no room for spare. Then it came with one battery and room for spare, I thought I was lucky to get one with room for spare. Boy was I wrong.
Last year the same thing happened after a rainy evening
BTW I have the tender and its great for my 996.
Just ventilating...........

For my Carrera 4 I installed a DRL relay that was standard in cars shipped to Canada. Popped it in and now I have DRL's. I even get an insurance discount.
Is there anything like that for the Cayenne?

I think the problem is in the alternator output capacity. It seems the draw is greater than the output, so the battery is drained.
I wouldn't recommend turning on running lights during the day, especially if you're doing short trips.
Just my .02 based on my experience.

Have an 04 CS and use my Xenons every day (I live in Canada and as previously mentioned, they automatically come on). My commute to work is very short (10 mins) and I never had any issue. I am told that Xenons have long life so I would not worry about using them (I has them on my last 2 cars as well and never had issues). They make you a lot more visible than regular driving lights, even in regular daylight.
