Default Thermal Glass Option

Does anyone out there have anything to say about this option: Thermally Insulated Glass (PJ1)? Thanks. JW3

I've got it. Works to keep the heat out in the summer, and the warmth in, in the winter (I live in the San Francisco Bay Area). I am glad I got it.

There is a film that is sandwiched between panes of glass, so it is much more robust than a surface film. It adds a little darkening of the glass, but probably to the level of 5-10%.

The only downside is it seems to block radio waves so garage door openers etc need to be pointed outside of the vehicle. I think that is why the homelink doesn't seem to work.

I too ordered it in sunny Phoenix, AZ, the hot spot of the desert southwest. It's well worth the money.

I agree with Charles about it reducing radio waves--my handheld GPS receiver receives nothing inside the car, altho my garagedoor transmitter works albeit at shorter range than in other vehicles.

I have it as well. My remote seems to work fine with maybe slight loss of distance but not enough for me to really care, as do my cell phones (unwired versions). Frankly, I thought it would be worse.

Does it affect the sensitivity of radar detectors too?

PDX - yes it will also reduce the function of radar & laser detectors mounted inside. This is a great reason to get a K40.
