I have the factory hitch ($630 option), but I only have the hitch, no electrical connector. The salesman said I had to buy that part separately but that doesn't sound right.
Does anyone know for certain if I should have had that installed as part of the hitch cost?
Thanks

Yes it does include the connections. The is a blanking plate there now but the wiring is underneath with a euro connector. They need to remove the plate and put a standard US receptical on FREE as all dealers do.

I had to buy that part from Porsche and installed it myself : (. It's easy to install and not expensive though for the part to convert to US standard plug. Regards. Mike

My dealer tried to charge me for it also. However, the salesman had told me that it was included in the sales price so we finally agreed on them supplying the part for free but I paid for the install. I probably could have done it myself, but I didn't feel like futzing with it for th $60 they charged me.
Seems pretty petty for a $100K vehicle, but Porsche has always been that way (floormats and radio where extra cost options on my '00 Boxster).

Sixty is way too much to pay for this install. Life is too short to hassel with a dealer on this. If the dealer is reluctant, just buy the part yourself, less than ten dollars I think. Remove the four screws holding the blank plate, plug in the 7 way adapter and reinstall the four screws. Your done. Your grandmother could do this install.

There should not be a charge for this installation. You have bought it with the trailer hitch option and the owner's manual shows it as installed. This issue was addressed previously. That said I did pay for the installation at my local service department as the I purchased my Cayenne from another dealer out of state. I sent Porsche the receipt and got reimbursed.

I got the run around on the connector at the dealership. Lucky just as I was going back and forth with the parts manager, the Porsche survey people called to talk about my buying experience. I left a scathing review and within 48 hours the sales manager had the part installed. The part costs $5.42 (about $15 retail) and took about 90 seconds to install. The sales guys was soooooo mad at the parts guy because this $5.42 part cost him a good review. I guess they are evaluated on those reviews somehow.

Mine didn't come with it either though the salesman had told me it did. I didn't want to screw with the dealer so a good local hitch company put it in less than 5 minutes. A friend just got a new CS this weekend and his came with the US Pollak adapter already installed- he got it from a different dealer...

Nope, they wont pay for it. They want $20 for the part and I guess I will install it myself. I will contact PCNA and let them know about my experience.
Do I need anything else other than that adapter if I want to tow something? (other than the brake electronics)

It's a real shame that some dealers insist on extracting money from its customers for an option that you paid for, that was not completely installed. Just look at the picture in the manual, and you will see the flip door. My dealer did it for free, and I didn't have to beg.
