Default PCM3 Emergency assistance needed.

Went out this morning for a ride and my entire PCM system is being weird!
2004 CTT, 6000 miles.

No sound whatsoever...radio, CD, Navigation...NOTHING.
NAV button indicates "Navigation CD Unreadable."
Eject it, put it back in, and it reads it....but again, no voice.

System is reading the CD changer. Selecting a CD, and playing it, but no volume at all.

Any ideas would be so appreciated.

Regards

Steve

probably something like a system reset is in order, or maybe an amplifier... time for a service visit, but not a painful one.

You know Alfie... I was just on your website.
I'd like to bring my car into your facility on Monday morning.
I didn't buy it from Ira, (it came from out of state), but your support of the forum makes me want to make Ira my "home dealership" even though I'm about an hour away from you.

Do you think I could come in first thing in the AM??

Alternatively...is there a way I can reset it myself from here?

Regards

Steve

Problem solved...
You know...this forum is such an amazing resource!!!

A search of previous posts says that to reset the PCM software you put the key in the ignition and turn to the on position without stepping on the brake, and while holding the lock/unlock button for ten seconds.

Sounds goofy but you know what....it worked 100%

so do I hold the key turned to the right AND press the key lock/unlockfor 10 seconds?? Is there a confirmation? Mine does what you are describing from time to time...

That's confirmed.
I think PCNA calls it a "hard reset."
It also resets the "learned driving style" from the computer.

Don't know when yours was built, but there is a TSB for BOSE S/W update that takes care of some of these problems for some of the earlier builds. That, in conjunction with a S/W upgrade to PCM3, fixed many weird behavioral problems for me. Check with your service guy. While it's good you fixed it yourself this time with a reboot, similar problems may recur.

Dont get too excited yet! My car has done the exact same thing several times. Will reset after car stopped and restarted. Told my dealer several times, of coarse they could not find a problem, however now it is a know problem and corrected with a soft ware update. Have your dealer do it right for you and stop playing with your key!
