Default 20k Service

I was wondering if any of you have gotten your 20k service done, and how much you paid for it, and what was done to your truck.

I am in the Cleveland area and i was quoted different prices and also each dealership told me different types of services that would be done to my truck.

Got spoiled with my previous BMWs and the MCS- all service paid for for first 3 years! Guess we're supposed to be lucky to have a 4 year warranty now...

Have not done it, but investigated and got multiple quotes for service 1 to get a clear picture...
Different dealers in my area quote different prices in a range of $360-500. Found some good dealers for about $360.

...yes, got overRELAXED too with good professional not cheating BMW dealer service in my area.

...big difference with PORSCHE dealer network for the worse (..."hidden" AUDIs w Porsche umbrella...

...w Porsche dealer have to check/recheck and watch it...
...just accepting this, because LOVE THE CAR...

I just got that done a few weeks ago at McKenna Porsche. The service advisor said that Porsche has now changed the 20K service to every 10K now. So, since my car had about 9.5K miles, it was time. I said OK...and it was basically an oil change and a few check this and that for $302.

PAG has not changed there first service interval (it still is 20K miles!). Do a search and you'll see why. I think you got taken for $302.00 ride my friend!

Default To Service or not to Service

I have 16K miles on the CAYS and a year surpassed, wondering if service is just change oil and top off fluids. If so I will gladly pass. Does anyone know if there are any software updates? So far the Cay runs fine, couple gremlins popped up but went away after couple hours never to be found. (Radio shutting down malfunction)

The less i have to go to dealer and worry about some monkey scratching my wheels or joyriding during lunch breaks the better.

Service at 10K? is that a joke?

A Cayenne is the last thing anyone would want to "joyride." The dealership where I worked at if anyone except a technician was seen outside the lot in a car they were fired immediately.

Anyways from what I remember the majority of the first scheduled maintanence is and oil change and a lot of checks. They'll inspect about every aspect of the car, which could result in something being replaced under warranty that you would have to pay for out of your own pocket down the road.

Ok you must live in a perfect world then. All dealerships are 100% error free and whatever they tell you is word of God. LMAO.

Believe me ive seen plenty of times dealerships take cars for authorized "test drive" during service, and seen techs or whoever stop for lunch, get the starbucks, etc.. About them inspecting every aspect of car, ok how long is the 1st 20K service take according to the dealer?

I agree things like this will probably happen less at a Porsche dealer, maybe the one u got to has strict policies, Im leary of dealers here in SOCAL, too many bad experiences in past either myself or friends with expensive rims and other mods, certain things happening to the car or parts on it.

Im just telling you how it was where I worked at. We didnt mess around because we loved our jobs and didnt want to get fired.

The tech working on your car will take a good look at every thing because if he sees anything wrong, he'll be able to repair it under warranty and make more money than he would have if he had just done the service.

If you're stuff is getting damaged at your deaslership, switch dealerships! A company that allows that kind of neglegience(spelling) probably allows it in a lot of other places too (Techs, service writers, etc).

Had mine done a few weeks ago. I change my own oil & filter so they didn't. $200 and 1-1/2 hours.

BTW, my dealer told me that they recommend oil & filter changes at 10,000 miles in Phoenix's heat. I change mine every 6 months which is every 9- to 10,000 miles.

BTW2, I lost one of my keys and bought a new one. $106 RR plus $60 reprogramming labor (less 10% Porsche Club of Am. discount). Oh well...

I got my car serviced for $340....they changed the oil + filter, wipers, and the air filter inside the car. There were also a few new service recalls. The first was the rear latch on the tailgate once again was recalled due to an electrical problem. The main computer system had a recall which they had a brand new program they installed. The third was with the front headlights. I ahve the xenons and they had to change something so it would cool them off.

Guys:

Check your manuals. They very clearly state that service interval is 20,000 KM!! Not 20,000 Miles. Note that 20,000 KM is about 12,000 Miles.

The correct service interval (according to Porsche) is 12K miles for a car driven normally.

That was a misprint, the car tells you when its needed based on your driving style. Mine alerted at 19,000 miles and was serviced at 20,000 MILES, same goes for Mercedes allthought they are around 14,000. engines designed for synthetic are like this.

If you race then I would do something different, like putting in dino for the first few '000 miles and then switching to synthetic, but if its a normal daily drive, follow the dealers instructions.

I had mine changed before 20k, but my Maintenance manual says:
"Minor Maintenance at 20,000, 60,000, 100,000, 140,000 mls/30,000, 90,000, 150,000, 210,000 km etc."
