All of a sudden, I tried starting my 2008 Cayenne Turbo 957, but when I turned the key to the right absolutely nothing happened. No lights on dashboard, nor any sound at all. Just the key returning left to the extraction position. I replaced the battery with a new one but still no luck. The gear is in the parking position and of course I press the foot break when doing so. The dashboard screen remains with the Porsche crest. Has anyone experienced such a problem?
Was the car parked outside, any rain? Almost sounds like the master Pyro fuse down by the battery has blown. Did you notice any wetness in that area when you were changing the battery?
How's the battery in your remote - maybe the DME isn't recognizing the key security chip. Same deal with the 2nd remote you have for the car?

Yes. I have been out in the wet and that's a condition that also crossed my mind but didn't know how it could connect with the issue. what your' re writing makes sense. I will check it. With respect to the keys, I've tried both that I have; same story. Thank you.
The battery in the remote is not related to the RF immobilizer feature. It's for the radio that sends the remote lock/unlock signal. Immo uses a passive RF 'chip' that is lit up by a broadcast antenna near the switch.
You could also try starting in Neutral rather than Park, but I am not hopeful, sounds more like wiring damage, a connector or on the back of the fuse panel maybe.
Does the steering column unlock when the key is inserted? It should make some sounds even before the key is turned.
No it does not. Yes, I know what you mean by sounds. It doesn't make any noice nor can we unlock the steering wheel. Cabin and door lights, are all functioning so it isn't related to the battery. The best guess right now is that the problem is related to the steering column electronics.
If you don't already have one, you should get a scan tool and find the codes.
Sounds like a problem with the KESSY module. Maybe it's not even getting power.
Check fuse 41. Left side of dash, 15A.
Thank you all for the input. Eventually the problem was traced to a PCM unit (or some short of electric mechanism) under the steering wheel. New costs ca. 2,500EUR but can also be repaired. The problem was considered as very rare. We had to load the vehicle on a tow truck, by releasing the gear lever to the "N" position (easy procedure following the manual) but with a locked steering wheel.
