How wrong everyone was when they told me "youre going to hate your life with a manual when youre offroad" dude...it just hops over things when I have the lockers on! I personally want to experience every discipline of the automotive world and this was my way of diving into offroad without straying from my focus on German makes.
That being said, with a manual box I felt like it would be 1. Rare and good for resale since this is part of my line of work. 2. A challenge that leads to... 3. taking on that challenge; succeeding will make me better rounded in the 'overlanding/offroading' discipline than it would with an auto that just crawls when brakes are released. I learned to drive stick in the hills of Colombia at 14 and since then have bought only one automatic car in my life, but being in Miami, I don't get that full experience of hill starts and really mastering a clutch unless I start going up highway runoffs and parking garages, but those options are illegal and they get boring.
When I pushed the toggles forward to lock central and then front lockers I was shocked at how I needed little to no gas at all when releasing the clutch with the simple little VR6 under the hood! Even my TDI Q7 and Touareg buddies were blown away.
Again, I'm new to all of this and come from a line of 7 3 series' 2 M3's and a 987.1S that were all extremely different driving styles. Getting this in some thick mud and having a clutch to kick was brilliant since I was able to combat the understeer better than the automatic, torque heavy diesels I was with that night as I was able to connect my figure 8s while they had an experience closer to sloshing around at the mercy of physics.
FINALLY AFTER A LOT OF TRAVELING AND SOME HICCUPS ALONG THE WAY. I AM BACK AND CAN SHARE THE INSTALL OF THE CAYENNE PARTS!
Huge thanks to everyone that has been following along and that has been enjoying the videos. This is part one of the 4th installment of the manual Cayenne Overlanding build. Check it out!
Just ordered some more parts in time for the biggest Porsche event of SFL, DRT! You'll be able to see me there throughout the weekend. If youre interested in learning more about the event check out Das Renn Treffen Miami on IG!
Pretty sure I saw your Overlander at DRT last weekend, pretty unique! I brought of my 911s which was parked by City Hall (dark blue SC with Ruf wheels).
Yeah I saw your car, it was awesome! I'll be getting this thing ready to sell soon. As someone that likes projects, this one is already done. Next DRT I plan on having a 911.

Saw yours at DRT as well...the pig looked good!! Mine was parked in the front during their C&C on Saturday per Alvaro's instructions (apologies for the mall crawler photo).

This looks great... Is that the stock air suspension setup? With just smaller rims and larger rubber? I really like the fitment of the wheels and how they fill the arch... This is something I would consider doing to my 2008 GTS... not really interested in messing with the suspension since I just replaced the entire factory air suspension compressor, computer etc. to get it running in proper order.

Thank you! As of now, yes it is the stock air suspension. It currently does what I need it to for my needs.
