Default lifted/offroad/overland/camping setups

wanted to get a thread going for lifted/offroad/overland/camping setups. A location to share ideas and new products. As these builds get more popular many companies are making new products.

Tell me about that rack please.

ah, eurowise. Google time

once my 18” conti ATs are done I’m going to do the lift with tires like those. Might take a while. Meanwhile I want the rack setup. Just did the evoms intake on my CTT and it’s a f’ing rhino.

Related to offroad/overlanding - has anyone sorted out how to make TPMS less of a nuisance while aired down? One way is to take out the fuse. Then you get a warning on startup, but not the bright red beeping alerts. That seems tolerable.

I've heard we may be able to program new/additional tire/pressure combos that we can then select from the DIC and TPMS will be happy. So you could create a new combo of A/T low pressure with targets of ~12 lbs or so, and then TPMS would be happy once you choose them in the menu. Bonus, now you still have functional TPMS even while aired down, so if you get a puncture and they drop lower than ~12, you would still get a notice. Anyone have a procedure for the same?

Have you had any success with any of this by chance? Thanks!

... Related-but-different - how have you all been adjusting your speedometer/odometer to account for larger tire sizes?

Never have had a need or desire for a 'lift-kit'
We have 10 years and over 128k principally overlanding miles on our 958 'Otis' -- Our travels have taken us on many trails from the Big Bend, Lost Coast Road, a lot of time on BDRs, Lolo Magruder, Moab and much more. We also enter competitive endurance rally events - over 5,000 miles one way in ten days up to the frozen Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk with stops in places like Dawson City to ice race on the frozen Yukon River. Temps of -40F, 60mph winds, blizzard for a windchill of -90F
We have no interest in weekend rock climbing or mudding. We do off-grid overland adventures for multiple weeks at a time. We do have skid plates, rock sliders, roll bar, bush bar, winch, camping gear, etc. Photo from the 2022 NWOR we have attended for eight years, once again they asked us to lead trail runs.

^^^ these guys and the fact we can run ~32” stock, and 2-3” only gets you to 33 comfortably or 35 for non turbo with aggressive fender cutting, plus the on road manners, plus the transsyberia…. Are all part of why I’m thinking I’ll be exploring first without the lift, and likely staying that way.

more pics!

Can someone direct me to a place where I can get basic 18" 'steely' rims - for my '08 'Off-Roader' build?
I did a fair bit of digging, but have not been able to find much - other than expensive rims. I just want basic steelys. With the 5x130 - 71.6mm center bore - and preferably less than the stock 57mm positive offset. I don't want the tires to stick out far... but maybe another 10 or 15mm....ish..
I have to think there's some kind of slightly less expensive option out there - other than $300 per rim!! (keep in mind, I'm in Canada.....exchange and shipping is a killer!!)

I didn't see any basic steelys on there. There were 9 rims that fit my Cayenne....least expensive was 260 bucks.

I hope this link works.... Steel Wheels

Thoughts on these? Is 5x127 close enough to 5x130? Or does it need to be bang on?

You will need adapters if you want to run those wheels.

5x130 is the bolt pattern on your truck .

I have searched a long time for wheels on a cayenne.

None are that cheap , nothing is really cheap in the Porsche world .

My mud wheels and tires cost me over 4K usd.

I just bought winter wheels , the cheapest that look decent were the Sparcos and those still cost 300usd a wheel .

I don’t like adapters but you may find cheaper wheels if you run adapters.
