Default Cayenne base rear air suspension

Hi Everyone,

My 2008 has a slight "nose up" stance at the best of times. I want to tow our boat with it but this makes the rear squat even more. I was wondering if it would be possible to fit air suspension to the rear only, either using an aftermarket kit or by utilizing stock parts. Any other solutions?

Thanks

Maybe a weight distributing hitch is the solution

Doubt you could do half the OEM setup. Probably needs to be an aftermarket kit. I'd contact Arnott and get their input.

It shouldn't squat to the rear. I bet you are throwing codes if you check with a PIWIS or Durametric. The purge valves are the most likely culprit- they are a wear item and rarely last past 100k. Does it settle over time or is it always canted? Your height level sensors could have failed or are out of calibration if it is always that way.

Cheers,
Tom

anything is possible if you put enough time and money to it. Ideally if you get a wrecked 957 cayenne with air suspension you can use it as a donor car and swap the air suspension over. I think there are couple of threads on VW forums on air suspension swap one for rear only and other for full swap so you might need to dig on touareg forums

if your Cayenne rides nose up even before towing then you might need to check if your current springs are sagging/worn out. New set of springs/struts might be all you need

Other option would be to get OEM heavy duty springs that are designed to handle extra 200-250 kgs per axle and pair it with bilstein B6 shocks. They will ride "sporty" under light load.

Part numbers for springs;
955-343-533-81-504 (front)
955-333-531-11-504 (rear)
I have a lightly used heavy duty springs set for sale, hopefully not violating sell rules
