Default airbag error light

I had the airbag replaced for 4 times, I still get the airbag error when the temperature changes (warm days after cold days or the other way around).

This happens when I start the car. The error is driver side airbag sensor value out of range.

The dealership tried it's best, any ideas, did anybody experience this before?

I have made 2 trips to the dealer for this problem. I am going back tomorrow to have the drivers seat airbag that is in the bolster replaced. They said there is a service bulletin on this. BTW 14,500 miles and this is the only real issue on my TT.

Do you know what the service bulletin number for this? It would really help if you can find this information.

Exclamation

:frown: I'm having my air bag replaced right now.

I haven't had any major issues - knock on wood - since I bought my CS last X-mas eve. It has over 4K mostly highway miles on it now.

The "Air Bag Failure" light went on one day and my technician said that the diagnostic computer reported failure with a part that triggers the air bag.

I guess its not a unique issue. I hope its fixed the first time though.

My airbag warning light has come on twice. The first time I took it in the tech checked for any faults and found none. It stayed off for about 2 months and reappeared. It sounds like it's a faulty sensor.

I picked up my CS yesterday and all was well. Later that evening the "Air Bag Fault" light comes on again!

Early this morning my in dash turning signals went out - I could see them working outside in the dark and my emergency blinkers all work fine.

I need to visit the dealer again. Anyone have their in dash blinkers go out?

TIA!

Yes. This happened to me one time. All external lights operated, but the dash indicator for the turn signal did not blink. After stopping and restarting the Cayenne twice, the dash lights resumed normal operation.

Default Airbag fault light

I'm experiencing the same problems with the airbag fault light on my 2004 Cayenne S. First trip in resulted in regrounded wires. Fix lasted only several weeks. Second trip in kept the car grounded for 2-3 weeks. The control unit was replaced and the fix lasted about 1 month. Back again for third visit tomorrow.

Each time the Cayenne detects and displays a fault, such as this air bag fault, the vehicle stores an error code. This error code resides in the vehicle, until it is automatically cleared by a specific number of ignition cycles.

The Porsche dealership uses the PST2 to download the error code. They can also clear the stored error codes. Presumably, they also report this information to PCNA / Porsche AG.

So, everyone but the owner and the members of this forum have the information required to understand this problem.

Please REQUIRE the dealership to interrogate the vehicle and provide the stored error code. Then please post that information here.

We can collectively examine and analyze this information, instead of waiting for this to trickle down from the factory.

If you can get the error codes, I can tell you what they mean as I have access to the Diagnostics manual for our vehicle.

That is great, ljugete, it will be very good to get some useful information here on this problem. Just remember that the vehicle will automatically clear these codes, on intermittant problems, after 25 ignition cycles.
