My airbag warning light recently started illuminating with each use of the vehicle.
The dealership found fault code 1217, as was reported by the other members.
The dealership determined that the wiring harness, underneath the seat, was too tight, placing tension on the connector when the seat was at the extreme position limits. They repositioned the wiring harness to resolve the problem.
They were never told that I move both seats to the forward up and backward down limits each time I vacuum the interior.
The 1217 fault code is the driver's side airbag ignition circuit fault (on the side of the seat), not the driver's airbag ignition circuit fault (on the wheel) as was previously reported.
Is anybody who tried to fix this problem still experiencing it? Mine is still a problem even after an airbag control unit change. I'm taking my baby back to the dealership tomorrow morning.
It seems like temperature and humidity change have something to do with this.
Originally posted by sportscarfanatic I had the airbag replaced for 4 times, I still get the airbag error when the temperature changes (warm days after cold days or the other way around).
This happens when I start the car. The error is driver side airbag sensor value out of range.
Replacement of the side airbag is supposed to be the LAST stage in attempting to resolve this problem. There are two other connector sets that are checked first. The airbag connector is visually inspected, only. Have those steps been performed, but not reported in these posts?
