Default Heated steering wheel coding on 2006

Hey gang,

this is probably a long shot but I’d thought I’d throw it out there. I bought a heated steering wheel and clock ring and the additional airbag harness. When I go to steering column I can see the status of the heated wheel is not installed but there is no coding offered for it. I also have looked through the gateway to see if it’s an option to activate..no go.

anyone done this and know which module
actually gets coded. I am stumped.

Stephen, what are you using to look at the steering module? Or gateway? Not all diagnostics tools are equal.

I am running a Chinese knock off of the PIWIS. Initially I was looking in the steering wheel column module for the coding. There is no option there to do that. I can read live data and it shows the heater is not installed. I then went to the gateway and looked at the Uninstalled list and nothing for the heated wheel. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the steering module and nothing. I would assume it should be in the steering module but there is no ability to code that.

Did you ever solve this?

I sure didn’t. Replaced everything with the updated part numbers. There was an open slot that was missing a wire and I could never track down where it came from. I even changed out the module and it would work. Pretty sure it was a power issue and that open slot.

Thats frustrating. I'm going through the same process on my 06 CTS. Purchased an 06 heated leather wheel and an entire stalk assembly from an 06 with a heated wheel. Verified all pins/wire were accounted for. The Turbo S apparently came standard with a heated wheel but mine had the wood trimmed wheel.
Will dig deeper...
Thanks for the quick reply, enjoy your Thanksgiving.

Interested in this solution. I too have a 06 CTTS. I want a heated wheel like my 05 had. Cheapo dealer that ordered my car for display didn't put comfort lighting, auto dim mirrors or heated wheel. did put the auxiliary heater though. Never figure out his choices. Stupid.

In my PIWIS 1, coding for the heated wheel is in [Steering Column Switch].
