I do get more sound coming from the rear speakers now; overall I think it is much closer to the original PCM+Bose setup.
The fader functionality is pretty limited; it doesn’t allow you to adjust the fade nearly as much; you can’t really send audio 100% to the rear speakers only, for example.
It also seems to have a slightly higher noise floor when playing silence (more RCA cables involved?) but that isn’t really noticeable at all.

I used to fade my stereos towards the rear... especially in the 90's when my cars had amped up 6x9's in the rear deck.
Listening to grown-up music at home on my "hi-fi" has got me used to having the sound stage at or in front of my ears.
