Default Cayenne newbie question

New to Cayennes and trying to learn more about them.
I’m currently looking at a cayenne gts. I’ve notice a couple of different shapes to the top of the steering wheel airbag. What’s the difference? Heat/ no heat?

My 2009 GTS has the red circled steering wheel.

It is pictured in the owners manual, but there is no mention of it.

Maybe a styling thing to jack up the MSRP a few hundred bucks?

No heated steering wheel in my truck.

The notches are to reduce weight...

Cheers,

ok here is what I have observed so far. The leather wrapped dash option seems to come with a smooth steering wheel air bag. The rhino skin plastic dash seems to come with the notched shaped air bags. Thoughts?

Could be - but with Porsche and their options lists you can never be sure what's "standard" for a particular model. Has anyone ever bought an option-less Cayenne for MSRP? I doubt it very much.. they just don't do strippers. The money is made in the options, not the vehicle.

My 2008 GTS has heated wheel and the "gauge" notches. Process of elimination!

EDIT- also doesn't help that there's about 50 part numbers for the various airbag covers in the catalog.

Based on this all the CTT and CTTS will have the smooth air bag cover since the leather dash was standard.

2004 CS here with plastic dash and notches in the air bag cover.
