New question: What is the cost of a complete panoramic sunroof replacement?

They're telling me that the sunroof is having some issues binding on the tracks and the shade doesn't seem to operate at all. They're looking into getting a complete sunroof to replace it all, which is great, except I never planned to open it (I do want the shade working though).

I'm thinking I'm going to offer to take it with the sunroof unrepaired (so long as it is properly closed and sealed), but I want them to discount me the cost of a new sunroof installed. What should I be asking for in terms of compensation/discount?

Also, any threads or advice on how to get the electric sunshade working again if that is not currently working. Can it be lubricated or electrical serviced separately, or do I need to mess with the glass to deal with the shade?

I think they're either $5,000 or $10,000 but believe they're difficult to source too. Are they still available directly from Porsche?

Here's a page I found that itemizes the individual parts, but looks like from them some are NLA. https://parts.byersporsche.com/a/Por...F/6940552.html

Honestly, not sure the car is worth the risk if the roof can't be replaced.

Thanks for the link. I mean the car is already 30% under market for it's specs (a fact I find both extremely exciting and utterly terrifying, especially buying it sight-unseen). If they were to take $10k off, they'd be basically giving me the car.

I suspect they probably found a junkyard pull and probably were looking at $3500-4000 for the assembly, but can you imagine pulling a sunroof without breaking it? As of right now, they're still trying to find what they need and intend to fix it, perhaps I'm best off just waiting and letting them absorb the pain of handling that task.

With that said, if they gave me $5k off I'd be looking at a loaded and otherwise solid Turbo S for less than most 955 base models. I live in the NW, so I could potentially live without the shade, and I intended to pull the fuses anyway (to prevent opening and that might prevent the shade anyway). I saw on one thread someone mentioned doing a 70% UV tint on the sunroof. I can get a pretty damn good tinting job for $5k.

The engineer in me wants to dissect the system and find the problem, but the pragmatist in me says negotiate them down, tint the glass, and walk away with the exact car I want for pennies against what I expected to spend.
