Anyone else have the button in the drivers door to open the rear hatch not work? I know the truck has to be "on" - but what else am I missing is there a valet switch somewhere?

hold it
If it's the electric lift type door you have to have the ignition on and the truck in park, then hold the switch up until it opens. I guess it's to prevent an accidental opening while you are moving. I had to go to the book to determine that mine wasn't broken.

What do i need to repair if : Holding Key Fob or Interior button the hatch cracks 1/4 inch but doesn't raise. 2) Raising from the Rear i need to lift slightly and then the "motor" does the rest of the work. What part is this motor?

Update - If i crack (release) or open the glass all the way. I can then press the key fob or interior button and the hatch will release. Are the gas struts for the glass tied into the hatch hydraulics? If there is no answer, i'll still be ordering the gas struts and find out for sure

Is this a motorized hatch? Does it open and close with the button push?
Or are you just lifting it a bit and then the struts take over?
If it's a non-motorized hatch, then there are 4 struts. 2 for the hatch, 2 for the glass. Motorized replaces one of the hatch struts with a motor. I'm not sure when the motorized hatch was/wasn't an option. Or standard. You also don't say what year yours is.
BUT...
Keep in mind that when the glass is closed, it's part of the hatch.
So the 'glass struts' do part of the work in lifting the hatch.
There are complete strut kits out there. I got the one from ECS. It includes the foam cover piece (and adhesive) that goes over the struts, under the interior piece. It's a pain to get it off without wrecking it. New ones eliminate that issue.
If the glass struts are on the way out, likely the hatch struts aren't far behind. Since you are going in, I'd suggest replacing them all at once.

I have an 08 and the hatch is motorized.
It does not Open(raise) when pressing either Key Fob or Door button, when the glass is closed. If the glass is ajar then those buttons work.
I noticed the labor would be the same to replace all struts...however i've already ordered the glass struts and will do the job twice if necessary
Video of the initial release with no raise. Then glass released and raised. Then glass opened all the way with raise
